I may not be a genius like Light, but when analyzing Death Note, so many issues could be avoided so easily just by not making yourself an infamous celebrity.
And maybe killing people in other ways BESIDES heart attacks. I think I might be just of a genius as him, or he's not that bright.

The whole thing would have never happened, because no one ever would have pieced together that the heart attacks were not random. There was also no real reason for Light to have killed the L decoy guy early on.
It's like: come on, fuel their assumption. Nothing bad will happen.

Actually, this is true. Ein is smarter than Ed, and probably the smartest anime character of them all (as far as anime dogs go). My vote goes to Ein. =)

Without a doubt Johan from the anime Monster. While it is never mentioned whether or not he has a genius level IQ. His pure understanding of human psychology is absolutely astounding.
At the age of 15, he set up an entire underworld money laundering syndicate of an enormous, nationwide scale.
He managed to manipulate serial killers to kill whoever he wanted by simply writing their name in the sand. Furthermore he orchestrated countless murders and essentially took control of the German underworld.
All of this without any geass, or artifacts from supernatural death Gods.
Wow, that guy really is smart! I wouldn't imagine someone being able to do that in real life.
I don't know the exact episode number is but Light controlled the criminals first before making them meet their demise.

Agreed. The very fact that he has no supernatural power, and seems to toy with the person chasing him, effortlessly remaining multiple steps ahead, is what makes him so terrifying.
I'm somewhat partial to Light, but don't see how someone can name both Light and L. In the end, only one of them came out on top.
Amy/Ami certainly had her high IQ score thrown around often, but Michiru's was reputed to be higher. Nonetheless, neither showed vastly superior intelligence.

Where did I say L was stupid? o.O I only think that if it comes down to a direct battle of wits (which it did), and one clearly comes out on top then both characters logically can't be called "smartest."
