Anime suggestions...

Hey. I was hoping you guys could help suggest an anime that's similar to crime and action animes (my favorite). I can't seem to find anymore good ones.

I've already gone through (and I'm up to date on those that are still going): Black Lagoon, Gungrave, Deathnote, Bleach, Samurai Champloo, Gantz (horribly dissapointing/compared to manga), Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun.

Couldn't make it through: Inuyasha (that's it)

I obviously like action/adventure/crime anime, but I dislike those set into the future (don't mind ones in the past or fictional settings, but prefer current real settings). I just can't find anything else right now.

Can you guys help me out???

Judging by what you have seen I am going to highly recommend Cowboy Bebop if you have not seen it before.

Might I also recommend Chrno Crusade and Elfen Lied. They are awesome too. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try out Fullmetal Alchemist either.

I've seen cowboy bepop (can't believe I forgot it). Hoshima, do you mean detective conan (or whatever), I've seen that too?

I think I should have left Gantz out of my watched animes, because elfen lied is seriously messed up. I'll keep watching it though.

I've had my fill of animes like elfen lied and Guntz for now... LOL

Might I recommend Gunslinger Girl.? It has been compared with Elfen Lied but less violent. A lot of gunslinging action and blood all involving little girls and the storyline is amazing! It is basically about adolescent girls whom have been on the verge of death and then taken in by the Italian government, are brainwashed with conditioning, get metal components fitted into their body, and then trained as assassins. A lot of drama and quite a depressing anime. Music - Mesmirising.

If you like Death Note you might like Paranoia Agent, it has some similarities. And if you want something a little like Samurai Champloo, try Saumrai 7. However, Samurai 7 has more violence and is more serious than Samurai Champloo...

And I agree with Kajiwara, definitely try Gunslinger Girl. I believe it just came out with a new season not too long ago, and its a really good anime o.o

I recommend:

Cowboy Bebop (set in the future, but only about 70 years later, so pretty "realistic": meaning no lasers, no aliens, no fancy space fighters, etc. My personal favorite anime, and my favorite ending to a series. Great characters and music. A lot of the episodes are stand-alone, but overall develop a theme and foreshadows the climatic ending)
Fullmetal Alchemist (set in an alternate pre-World War 2 Europe. Partially fantasy (as the title implies, some characters use alchemy) My second personal favorite, with a rich story and characters, and beautiful music)
One Piece (set in a "pirate" world, but think of it as a pirate world with lots of crazy creatures, wacky fighting techniques, and a HUGE world to explore. The cartoony style might turn you off initially, but it will grow on you. Excellent fights, story, character development, and humor. Note: only watch in sub or Funimation dub. The 4Kids dub is AWFUL)

Unfortunately, that's it, since you don't care for "future" anime, and you've already listed some of the ones I would've recommended. Also left off mecha suggestions, since you didn't list any, so I wasn't sure if mecha wasn't your thing.

Well, I've already watched the majority of Cowboy Bebop episodes (missed some in the midle).
With FA and One piece, I watched a few dozen episodes but their lengths are somewhat daunting and I can't find where I left off. I'll find it eventually.

I would suggest Soul Eater. The anime is pretty recent (just started in April) and Yen Press just published the first chapter in English in one of their monthly (?) magazines. It's a very interesting series, deals mostly with people called 'technicians' and other people who transform into their 'weapons' and they collect the souls and such. It's great, and the characters are fantastic. There have already been 51 chapters published in Japanese with 18 episodes.
