I can't understand why anime has so much appeal over here (USA). The lifestyle is so different. It's a wonder that more people don't object to it.

It's because most Christians can make the distinction between a real event and a fictional show. Likewise, most Christians I know have no issues with Harry Potter. It's a a fictional story, and believe it or not, only 0.00000000001% of kids who read it are going to attempt witchcraft. The horror!

Also, parents are too busy whining about the GTA series and how it destroyed their child's mind, regardless of the very obvious "Mature" rating on the box, not to mention the game is called "GRAND THEFT AUTO" (in other words, not about bunnies and elves!!!). They don't have time to send their idiotic complaints towards anime.

Well, I actually agree with him on his stance of, pretty much all Feudal Era anime (or anything that tries to mimic the Feudal Era-like Naruto). For a Christian, no those shows aren't particularly appropriate. They are filled with Shinto information, and a young mind could be confused. I would never give my kids Naruto or Inuyasha (then again, I also don't like them from an anime standpoint.)


Demonic? I wouldn't go that far, but if you count non-Christian as demonic...then I guess yeah. The moral (as far as my beliefs go) is that, many anime are certainly non-christian. Heck Japanese lifestyle is not very Christian.

I can tell the difference between fantasy and reality-let's not get smug.

I objectify to a lot of anime because what goes on in these fantasy settings is not of God-the characters use witchcraft and devilry-the Word speaks out against these things. The Word also says flee sexual immorality.

The Word says "you who love God hate evil" and "put no unclean thing before you". If I know something isn't of God-I'm not going to watch it.

How dare you people label me an ATHIEST.

Inuyasha for example is about a half-demon who slays demons-no such animal.

One of them is InuYasha. I mean I used to like it but then it grew old and everything about it sucks.

Another one is Elfen Lied. I didn't enjoy that anime one bit. I didn't find it cute or brilliant. It's irritating to see the people I know like/love it.

Well then lemme share to you a story of mine when I was a kid. It happened about 6 years ago. I had a chance to talk to our parish priest.
Out of kidly curiosity, I asked this question, "Why are there so many religions? when my teacher says there is only ONE TRUE GOD?"
And this was his answer, "a good question, you know what I think? I think that no matter how many religions there are, they all worship God. Buddha or may it be the Muslim's Allah, they're all just different names given by man to God." Of course I don't remember his exact words but it's somewhere along those lines. Ya see thats why I don't say, "You're committing idolatry!" to people with a different religion.

After finishing the Shakugan no Shana series, I watched the OVAs, and they are terrible. Especially the Shakugan no Shanatan ones. Can't say the same about the Shakugan no Shana II series though... haven't gotten through those yet.

Same with the School Days OVAs... Magical Girl Kokoro-chan was horrible!
