It all depends on how metal you want…

Orange range does a few Metal songs my favourite being ‘Kirikirimai’. The band ‘Nightmare’ from DeathNote are great too. ‘BeatCrusaders’ are really good as well.

Then you have your J-rock J-pop hybrids like the stuff by EXILE and Nami Takami.

    Bit of help

Orange Range? Dude, can you even tell what is a metal band and what isn't? They're more of a hip-hop group than metal. Not saying they're bad, but man, that's just terrible.

Metal subgenres variously emphasize, alter, or omit one or more of these attributes. New York Times critic Jon Pareles writes, "In the taxonomy of popular music, heavy metal is a major subspecies of hard-rock—the breed with less syncopation, less blues, more showmanship and more brute force."[4] The typical band lineup includes a drummer, a bassist, a rhythm guitarist, a lead guitarist, and a singer, who may or may not be an instrumentalist. Keyboard instruments are often used to enhance the fullness of the sound.[5] The loud, distorted Hammond organ and occasionally the mellotron were popular with early metal bands; these instruments were displaced in the 1980s by electronic keyboard synthesizers. Today, keyboards are used in styles such as progressive metal, power metal, and symphonic metal. Some nu metal bands incorporate hip hop elements, which may include a DJ scratching and creating various sound effects.
I know Ehsivar already commented about this, but I want to too.

Yeah, OR is hip-hop/rock hybrid group. Kirikirimai, Chest, not metal. Just because there's screaming, doesn't mean it's metal.

I know Nightmare well (they're not "from" Death Note)... and they are NOT metal. They are classified as J-rock, or more specifically, visual kei. J-rock and metal are two very different things. Again, it's not just vocals that makes a band metal.

Beat Crusaders? Come on. Not even close.

NAMI TAMAKI?! Sorry for the caps. My tears of sadness are blinding me, therefore, I can't see whether or not I'm on caps lock. Tamaki is pop. She is an idol of J-pop.

I recommend listening to these bands first. Something that isn't in Naruto or Bleach or Death Note. They're good bands though.

Anyway, I forgot a band! Galneryus is pretty good, according to my friend. NOTE: I honestly really don't like metal music, so I can't personally recommend. Besides X Japan.

Eh, the way the guy japanese metal bands dress up makes me question my sexuality. The first time i ever saw an image of a japanese metal band i was like wow those are some hot chicks. My friend then notified me that they are men. I was stunned.

The only band that i have been interested in are the Gazettes. Have not a damn clue of what they are saying but i like the tune.

Dir en grey isn't metal. Never was.

And heavy metal isn't technically a form of hard rock. It evolved directly from blues.

HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR is not metal. They're more like J-Pop and J-Rock, although their latest songs and cover songs have been more like J-Pop (Take their "HOT LIMIT" cover as an example.)

The GazettE is pretty good, though I don't know if they tend to be more J-Rock or J-Metal, although, their songs have a great deal of both.

X-Japan is pretty good. I would recommend An Cafe and alice nine, but they are just plain Visual Kei. Dir en Grey is versatile, sometimes having some Metal parts in their songs. Maximum the Hormone is pretty good. All of their songs are great!

    MTH songs that are amazing:
    - Kyokatsu
    - Akagi
    - Shimi
    - Minoreba Rock
    - Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura Purin Purin Boron Nurureroero

    Just my opinion.

    Orange Range is not metal.
