The Moon Landing.

What are your thoughts on the Moon Landing? Did it happen, or did it not? Ofcourse I speak of the Apollo 11 mission on the 20th July 1969 'starring' Neil Armstrong. XP

I personally cannot tell, because there are so many arguments for both sides of the story backing each statement up. If it was an act or not.

The thing that gets me most though is the fact that the American flag was waving....now if I am correct their is no Gravity on the moon. Also the fact that some guy filmed Neil Armstrongs (AKA "The first man on the Moon) first steps onto the moon was weird, as the guy holding the camera happened to be stationed on the surface filming it. So wouldn't that mean the first man on the moon was actually the guy with the camera? As you can see below.

At the time over 500 million people were veiwing this event.

At the time the Soviets had Rockets many times as powerful as the US. In fact it was because of the Russian man Yuri Gagarins, that inspired John F Kennedy to start thinking up an American project for them to get there first. In fact Kennedy's own words were;

" Everything we do ought to really be tied in to getting on to the moon ahead of the Russians otherwise we shouldn't be spending that kind of money, because I'm not interested in space. The only justification for the cost is because we hope to beat the USSR to demonstrate that instead of being behind by a couple of years, by God, we passed them."

So it was just a little race against two big nations. Could that have led to this accused hoax?

But also many views on it could be seen as true. Their are many statements also backing up the fact that the Moon Landing did take place in 1969.
But what the hell, I'm no expert in all this so don't go aggro towards me just incase I got a couple of facts wrong.

So, any thought on this?

Well who knows in fairness. I think a good way of finding out would be to go up and see if the flag is there or not XD

With that said, the camera could have been attached to the ship. The flag could have waved cos it was put in the ground - it would have been subjected to forces which could have made it wiggle around, and without air friction to stop it, it could feasibly wave around for a much longer period of time?

Just hypothesising here though.

Either way, faked or not, the whole thing served its political purpose.

You aren't. The moon has mass. You have something like 1/8 of the gravity you'd have on the Earth.

When astronauts were planting the flagpole they rotated it back and forth to better penetrate the lunar soil (anyone who's set a blunt tent-post will know how this works). So of course the flag waved! Unfurling a piece of rolled-up cloth with stored angular momentum will naturally result in waves and ripples -- no breeze required!

I did not ask for a debate whether it was a hoax or not, just the whole mission in itself. Yes I did want it to be part of the conversation on what people though on it but thats all.

Again, and for the last time, yes I did want THAT part of Apollo 11 in the conversation but I did not want the WHOLE discussion to be about whether it was a hoax.

Now, it may just be me, but I do not see anything about it being a hoax in any of those specific sentences. In fact if I am correct they are to do with other factors on the Moon Landing. OH! What a suprise, a different side of the topic altogether.

Try reading whole posts before making false and speedy accusations about my intentions in this thread, or even better, just stay away and stop trying to tell me what I made this thread for.
