What is up with male characters these days? Their getting weaker, dumber, and more emo than ever with each new anime release. Look at Raki from Claymore he just cries and get in the way of Clare. On the plus side girls are getting stronger, smarter, and standing their ground better than the guys can. LOL I guess all the guys are seriously losing their balls to the girls .

I suppose all Anime's are just getting like that one episode of Naruto "Sakura Blossoms". The directors are just letting the Females of the Anime get all the awesome scenes and so on nowadays, making up for lost time. It's a chick generation now!

Exactly what series are we talking about here? In the "shonen trinity" (Naruto/Bleach/OP), most of the girls don't stand a chance against the guys. Fullmetal Alchemist manga is pretty much the same way. There was only one major girl in Death Note, Misa, and she was pretty much just a pawn in Light's game. In Tsubasa, Sakura's best contribution was winning a race (but only because Kurogane helped her). Samurai Champloo, Fuu was getting kidnapped 24/7 with Mugen and Jin trying (or barely caring, LOL) to save her. And I'm sure the list goes on.....

Of course, you guys may be reading/watching different series from me, but it seems to me that girls still are getting underused in anime/manga.

Yes, I'm wondering why also, to why the males in anime's are quite wimpy these days. Even in DBZ too.

I disagree and agree on certain levels. Renton (Eureka Seven) = annoying and wimpy and angst-ridden. Ew. However, there are plenty of strong male characters. Just to name a few recent ones, Allen Walker (D.Gray-man). He's quite strong, not at all stupid, and certainly not "emo". He's also young, which shows that whole "strong and young" image. There's also an example that almost everyone knows: Light Yagami (Death Note). We all know he isn't stupid or angst-ridden, and quite physically strong as well, not to mention emotionally. Maybe not stable, but strong. Outside of Shounen Jump, there's also several others (some not as recent as others). Roy Mustang (Fullmetal Alchemist), Sousuke Sagara (Full Metal Panic!), Cho Hakkai (Gensoumaden Saiyuki), Kiba (Wolf's Rain) (heck, almost all four of the wolves!), and Vash the Stampede (Trigun) (who is silly, not stupid) to just name a few.

And trust me, they're are plenty of anime girls that are stupid and weak too. Plenty.

However in genre's such as magical girl the roles are reversed shonen seinen or shojo...or josei..... but yeah.

Anyway, haven't male characters always been weak inthe genres you listed? So I'm still unsure as to what's changing.

I'm glad the girls are getting stronger, I hate that anime use to picture all the girls just as the anime character thats good to look at. I want girls to get into as much as the fighting action as possible since they are just as capable.

It is weird that the boys are getting more emotional, but honestly I like seeing the boys being capable of emotion xD

Though there still are a really large amount of anime boys who just seem strong with no wimpy attitude.

Hmm, this is definitely an interesting point of view. But I have to admit, it has some truth to it. Maybe gangman5 is right (just read his post), maybe girls who are beautiful yet deadly (Example: Clare from Claymore) attracts more guys.

Or the production staff of animes are being replaced with women or feminists, hey I'm not sure okay?!

Or the story of having a heroine rather than a hero is more interesting.

Don't laugh too hard but I like the pathetic whinny male characters. I think the male anime image has changed with the modern man. Nowadays it's common for men to have a feminine side and I guess anime writers have implemented that in the design.
