Almost every anime has some major cliche, be it a socially inept character, or a magical girl. I want to know what you all think is the biggest cliche in shoujo and the biggest cliche in shounen.

So have at it.

A cliche I see repeated again and again, is that whenever a character says something that's supposed to be important, there is zoom-in effect on his face that emphasizes what he is saying. Right afterwards, whoever is listening to his ranting gasps, or their eyes start shining. And there is another zoom-in effect on the face of the one who gasps.

Another type of cliche I see has been made infamous by Love Hina. There are many variations to this cliche, but a male character will do something clumsy that causes embarassment to a female character. In turn, the female will wallop the male with a fist, foot, or a heavy object.

Well usually if the main character did not have the unsaid ability to godmode, they would die off early and the story would never progress. Unless the purpose of the main character's death was to make room for a minor character to step in to become the next main character. Hmmm...that's not a bad idea, actually. It would have to be done correctly, though, or the viewers/readers would not be able to be attached to the new main character.
