Anime=Japanese cartoon. Manga=non-colored comic book that you read from right to left. I hope that explains it.

Well, there's the obvious...one is a book and one is a tv show. But there are other differences. Most anime is based off of a manga. But the anime tend to leave out a lot of the story that the manga has. And they produce anime faster than manga so anime usually has storyline that is not in the manga. This is called "filler". Filler usually sucks but it is necessary because it gives the manga writers time to produce manga.
Anime storyline really is usually based off the manga. However, most anime take only minimal to medium amounts of storyline from the manga to put into the anime and almost always have a different ending from the manga. This can be seen in many cases where the anime finished but the manga is still going or was still going at that time (Dear S, Negima, etc.) Along with that the anime may leave out characters that in the manga had some pretty major roles but for some reason just did not make it into the animated version (Midori no Hibi, etc.) I find the manga to be better than the anime in my personal experience but there's just something about seeing what you've read "come to life" that makes all the BS worth it.

What the 4 posts above me just said and i find manga more entertaining because there are no fillers, more characters, and the story actually ends how its supposed to. But as Tsen Yuki said, seeing it animated after you've read the manga does make it that much more enjoyable.

Yeah, most of the time the anime (tv program/movie) is based on the manga (book/graphic novel). And like books vs. tv/movies, some people think the books are better, and some thing the animation is better. ^^v
I really don't see how it's such a hard concept to grasp...honestly...oh well

yeah, it sounds simple, if you know it. So, anime is a animated film, and manga is a comic. I think i understand it know. Thanks
err.. animÉ is the one being watched- series, movies, etc.. while manga is the one being read- comic book, usually black-and-white.. most animÉs are based on manga..
MOVE ON. DO SOMETHING BETTER.
Anime= watchy watchy on the tv for free (except power bill)
Manga= expensive books you buy at the stores and read once and have to continue to buy, so you have the set.

Anime is on TV and is coloured
Manga is on books and is black and white
Anime-Watch
Manga-Read ^^
Well anime is the animated show, the final touch while the manga is just the "sketch",or the skeleton of the anime if i could say so,which comes first ^_^. It's what after they guide when making the animation.
No Mercy,
No Remorse.

The term anime came about to shorten the prior term for Japanese animated films, Japanimation. Manga does primarily refer to the graphic novels but encompasses the genre of Japanese comics in general.
"You laugh because I'm different, I laugh because you're all the same, the gods laugh and celebrate the differences."
anime is the animation and manga is the comic. And usually mangas are made before animes, I mean, animes are inspired in mangas.
