Is it weird for a 31 year old To like ANIME:)

I am drawn to some for some reason. It even breaks my heart watching some of the video renditions to songs people have made on U Tube with anime clips. What is wrong with me lol. I am 31, and still love ANIME. I hate most regular cartoons. Oh no, and I won't watch most cartoon movies either. But anime, to me is different.

I agree with you. I once saw a 63 year old dude at a anime convention. It was pretty cool when i talked to him. He is a anime nut just like me but he is a veteran of this stuff

Just for you to know..in Japan, anime is one of the main things on TV, and people over 20-25 are the biggest group watching them.
Like we have comedy movies, action movies etc on TV at normal hours, their TV channels have all the same + anime.

The myth that anime is for young people is older than the internet itself and wrong like any religion out there.
I know personally about ~15 people who are 30+, have a family, a job, hobbies and still love anime.
They are open minded, that's all.

A common western 'grown-up' may think anime is for younger people or it's just a cartoon .. well, he is just an ignorant fool.
So don't worry about it, I'm sure even some of your friends watch it but will deny liking it.

I love it and want to get back into it. I really want to be able to draw Anime or make graphic art as well. I love the Video game style Like Final Fantasy but don't play the games. Um, I am not coordinated lol. I am coming out of the "closet so to speak" lol for Anime.

Nope, but this may depends of flavour option of each person. for example: if that person like or love anime, it's all right. Now, if other person don't like anime, it's all right. I can't obligate, implore, incentive him/her to watch anime because I respect the decision of that person, being him/her, older than me or younger than me.
So, my answer is: there isn't nothing weird an older person like anime, but will depends of flavour option of each person.

Ahem... For the topic itself. I would think that it'd be weird for an oldie to look at anime. I'd be all like, "Hey! He's watching cartoon like me and he's old! Ew... Way uncool." I need to preserve my image maaan.

If you look at what I wrote, the most simple point you could extract from is that, compared to Mori, I wasn't conditioned to see old people watch anime. 31 years old isn't that old though. I'd be scared to see the oldies watch it. For example, I'm sitting down with a 70 year old (which is already by itself, unawesome) watching Bleach, then he might say "ICHIGO!!! -Starts to drool.- KILL THAT HOLLOW!!" (I seriously don't wanna be in that situation)

It's a little abnormal but I don't have any problems with it. Here at AF, we have a few active members that are over 30, like baka.tenshi and TheRebel and they're perfectly normal.

And Wio, watch the uncut versions of Akira or an episode of Elfen Lied, then try to say anime is targeted towards kids o_O

I don't guess you'd call it totally "normal" but who cares? Who wants to be like everyone else?

Personally, other than the occasional Pixar movie, I don't like western animation at all and haven't watched any in over 20 years. But Anime is very different. Anime has lots of emotional depth and interesting characters that other animation lacks. It is also very romantic, something I keep running into over and over again even in series that aren't supposed to be romances. All in all the characters and stories have more depth and are more compelling than anything you'll see in western animation. This is because animation in the west is aimed at children whereas the Japanese make Anime for all ages and tastes...

I don't think most anime is targeted towards young people. have you heard of Berzerk or Bible black? These are just a couple of examples. I don't watch these kind of titles so I really can't name many more but there are a lot.
