What do you think makes an Anime Cute? ^-^

So, what Kind of things do you find cute in Amime? I think its the small Girls with big Eyes and really high cute voices! ^_^ (Mainly Japanese Language).
And also Loli's with Big breasts. Ofcourse I am speaking of Mikuru from Haruhi Suzuyami's Melancholy. XD

Well just watch Ichigo Mashimaru or Azumanga Daioh to get what I mean - Even the grown-ups were cute in that. XD

I agree with you guys, it's the main female protagonists in many romance animes and magical girl animes that makes an anime cute!

A comedy with a female protagonist who has moe characteristics and is about as naive and clumsy as you can be makes an anime kawaii for me.

I realize that there are a lot of westerners (not just talking about U.S.) that think anime is silly. I also realize that Japan has a good sense of humor when it comes to things that are silly, or just plain adorable, I think that at times, that's the major difference in the styles of animation that are in the east and west. I think that western animation just isn't as cute as Japanese, not so much that Japanese is extra-ordinary. But that's just my opinion.

well the eyes and hair are what makes an anime unique than western style art/cartoon (yes I know anime is not cartoons!)

Japanese animation seems to always be cuter. though it's the eyes and hair that gets me >.<!

Though I do love the high voices...but really only on the younger characters.

Uh Chibi-Usa. Definition of "un-cute". She tries to be and she fails. HARD.

But yeah, it's mostly the eyes and the voices that makes characters cute. But I have to like their personalities too. If I don't they are not cute to me. I also think the random funny noises girls make are cute like Misuzu's "Gao" or Sakura's "hoeh?" or Mill's "Ukyuu?" Characters who are innocent are cute and so are characters who make that pouty face and stick out their bottom lip. Hairstyle also plays an important role. Giving the girl glasses negates the cuteness factor to the extreme. I HATE the glasses thing...it never looks cute to me. XP

Anime characters who act childish in a non-obnoxious way are cute. In fact, I would say childlike behavior and innocence are the key players when it comes to being cute.

What's funny is how even though big eyes are usually what makes the character cute, when they're asleep they always look even cuter!

To me, the cutest thing is when an anime boy blushes. Or is all nervous and clumsy if he's with a girl he likes. I LOVE THAT. XD

I can about take things like Chii in Chobits because she's cute in an original kind of way...but some of the really "chibi" cute girl characters with their squeaky voices and so on and so forth...

ChibiUsa was never cute to me. But then nor is Hanaichigo (screech screech cover ears) or most of the young and innocent female characters that appear in anime.

I prefer personality in my characters. Not big eyes and a voice beyond the hearing range of most canines...

To cite an example...Kourin from Saiunkoku is far more "cute" to me because she actually has a role in the plot that means something beyond "hey, look at me, my hair bounces..."

I'm sorry, but the canine part was funny! It's true, not all the high-pithced female voices are always so cute...quite frankly, sometimes it's annoying. But that's just MAO.

Yeah, but thats mostly when they are dubbed. Anyway its not the characters fault what voice-actor she gets stuck with, right? ^_^

Yeah, I guess so. But most anime fans that I know of prefer the orginal Japanese voices to the dubs. For me, it's 50-50.

It's also cute when the girls don't know what they're doing and end up embarrassing the guy unintentionally. Like when she imitates what's in a sappy magazine. That will always make a guy get all flustered.

No, count me in...

I think the story makes an anime cute, and it's usually romantic. Like Strawberry Eggs, Midori Days or Chobits. All of those have great story lines and characters. All of them are cute.

A nice touch of angst, blood, tears and a lot of regrets makes the anime quite adorable. Why? Because it's not happening to me.

Hopless-romantic people "wanting" to be loved is cute, it's a lot cuter knowing that they will never be love. Nonetheless, they always whine and complain "IT'S MY FAULT!!1one"

Hina-Ichigo also seems like she's trying too hard...like Peach-Pit is forcing the cute thing with her. It's odd...some girls can pull it off and some can't. I think Misuzu and Mitsuki do it well because it doesn't feel like they're "trying" to be cute and innocent. They're just naturally that way and it feels just like that.

Japanese Girls have cute voices, thats often why the original voices are best. ^_^ (Plus they swear a lot more).

The character that shows true Anime cuteness, I think, is Hina-Ichigo from Rozen Maiden. She is so Cute!!! ^-^

Well I think its kinda cute when a couple kinda hates each other in the begaining but latter on finds out that they love each other like in Inuyasha would be a good example. Like how Inuyasha and Kagome kinda hated eath other at first and she gave the sit command and hurt him a lot. Oh and he tried to kill her to get the jewel of course however latter on they both need each other and after a while they begin to love each other bu are to shy to tell each other that I think that is kinda cute
