Remember what I told you about coloring? It's the same thing with shading. Shading is fun, it's often very helpful if you mess up x] I like the new stuff. Wonderful as always =)

Thanks for the review. Maybe in the future I will be able to use the computer for the words to replace my handwriting. For now though it seems to be doing the job. As for shadow without photoshop it is very difficult to shade these drawings. Each page is only A4 size so each frame is only a few inches big. Also if I mess up I will have to start all over again. I guess you could say I'm afraid of shading. Maybe if a practice more I will shade some in the future.

experience comes from training Shading is not that hard realy, as a matter of fact, it is true. I think many people are afraid of shading their pictures because it seems harder then it looks. But you know, there are always room for improvements and I actually think that you are so talented that it shouldnt be a huge problem for you to learn sometime in the future
But for the moment, good job!

very good job! ^_^ they're all very good. unfortunately i can't give you any advice since i know next to nothing about art(i have tourettes and autism so my handwriting sucks and the best i can draw is a stick figure) but i still think you did a great job. i really liked the 3rd picture from your 1st post with that evil girl. that was very well done, i also really liked how you designed that ogre looking thing in the last image of your most recent image. you also did a good job showing the detail of the rain. keep up the great work.

i agree with SuXrys shadings are not so hard its like your shading the cloths of you characters too you can also refer to real bottle and try to draw the shadow of it or other things that you can draw, your drawings are improving big bro

SuXrys- Shaded designs are coming up. The rest of this manga is almost finished and won't be shaded though (sorry) I want to practice on larger images befor going onto delicate stuff. As for being easy we'll see about that! Thanks for the kind words!

Hey First of all, thanks for the great compliment u gave me, just had to say that publicly lol.

You have a great sense of humour, this story is absolutly hilarious LOL, it's great!I have one word for your art my friend and that's CREATIVE! Wow! Although it doesn't look like manga, I like it because it looks more like a European comic. The inking is very well done, each of your images in have something that's interesting to look at. I love the way you drew that tiger and the... what are they anyway... um, in fantasy terms gouls right? Not sure lol. Did I mention I love the costumes?

The only criticism I have is to do something about the text. As mentioned by someone else, although your handwriting is neat, it blends too much with the art, which is why I think you shuld try making it bolder (and I know you've already realised that perhaps next time u should use the pc). I don't agree with some comments on shading though... Shading with pen? As far as I've seen you've already done that (look at the tiger ppl ). But shading with a pen is a matter of cross hatching; Naruto is a good example of a manga with shading done by crosshatching, and there are not too many shadow anyways, or too much intricate detail compared to other manga (Noise and BLAME!). Another good trick is creating more depth. You already have depth, but if you want some more try varying the weight of the ink.

Once again I LOVE this story and I can't wait to see what happens next

DarkMizusasuke- Thank you very much. The creatures are goblins just to clear that one up. Shading with a pen isn't easy. I use dip pens (think old quill pens they're the same type of thing) to ink all my drawings and these are temperamental at the best of times. The writing I will attempt to sort out at a later date. Currently I don't own photoshop so computer editing is impossible until I get it. Once again thanks for the comments your support is appreciated.

Right here is an update for you. A lot of people have asked me to shade my work so here is a shaded sketch. It is of Grotlek and a newly designed character Michelle. This is my first real experiment with shading so if it looks shoddy let me know and give me any hints you have on shading. All critques are welcome!

Also to whoever gave me an anonymous rep telling me I suck thanks for your honest opinion. If you think I suck please put it in this thread rather then giving me anonymous reps so I can reply to you properly. I will not slate you for your opinion. I created this thread to improve my drawing so tell me why I suck and how I can improve. Thankyou

Again, let me say that it's good you've opened your own art thread and share your works ^^ I'm really glad you decided to continue on drawing. And I think your openness to suggestions and comments [whether positive or not so positive ^^] to your works is an indication of kaizen... which any artist or anyone for that matter shouldn't go without ^^

Anyway~ ^^

Looking at your style of drawings was kind of reminiscent of something I couldn't quite put my finger on... but then it just hit me a few days ago ...Your drawings remind me of artworks from old forbidden tomes containing stories of legends and mysteries! Maybe it's just me, but I like tomes, legends and those sort of mysteries xD and your comic pages gives that sort of vibe... and the presence of goblins reinforces it ^^ Even now, I still find your orc drawings very interesting... reminds me of Warcraft in a way ^^

But if you don't mind, here are a few of my suggestions though ^^

> Panel shapes - how about trying to experiment with different panel shapes and sizes? ^^ Hmmm... try using a diagonal side to the panels or maybe have a drawing sort of go out of a panel xD

> Gutter sizes - You probably know this already but I'm still putting it in. About the gutters: panels that have narrower gutters in between signals the eye/reader that those panels are in direct succession. Erm, for example: if a panel has another panel to its right and below it, the panel closest to the panel I've just read appears to be the next panel. So if the panel below it is closer, it would seem that that one is the next one and not the one on the right. xD I hope I made sense there ^^' Maybe it's just me [who reads some manga right to left ^^'] but I'm sometimes a wee bit confused which panel comes next.

> lines - I think the diagonal lines representing the rain are a wee bit too densed/packed ^^ and since you primarily used lines as compared to shadings... and how about experimenting with crosshatching?.. to add... er... depth or dimension to the compositions ^^

> Thought Balloons - you have a nice penmanship... like you've developed you're own font style. xD Erm... I might be a conventional comic reader but... how about trying to print/write the text in simple all caps? A4 paper... so probably around font size 11-12? And try to keep the text more alined... I mean like seeing straight invisible lines where the text should be sitting on ^^ Maybe it's just the size of the scan, but it was a little challenging to read some of the balloons... like the one's of the orcs ^^'

Oh, and how about putting in page nos.? ^^

Well, I hope you didn't just sleep through all that. xD Those are just my own opinions though. It's still up to you, of course! ^^

Still... All in all though, nice job! Commendable attention to details! The story is progressing nicely. You even put in onomatopoeias! Real comics feel! Neat! xD Hope to see/read more of your original comics soon. May the spirit of kaizen be upon thee xD

Mikadizuki thanks for your coments. Its good to see such an awesome artist on my thread. I will certainly bear your hints on mind on my next project. Unfortunately I have no way of using a computer for the text so you will have to put up with my scrawl for now. I will try practicing cross hatching for next time. I must say it's amazing to see you improve so quickly!!!! I really like the shading in your recent art. The clothing is is also really well done and very imaginitive. I don't have much to say this week LOL... still a little dazed . Once again the animals are really well done, and it's not easy placing people (erm, in this case goblins) on creatures for that matter, so well done!

But who's the chick we keep seeing in the cover art and stuff? Will she appear soon?

Oh..! More uploads! I have to say that you are very good at what you are doing, you have a great sense of humor. lol And its ok that the quality is low, I can still see it, if I couldnt then we would have big issues would we?^_^ Lets see, if I have to say a tips until the next time, if you want to draw more realistic figures (you dont have to, we all have different kind of drawing style!) then you could think more about the proportions. For example, if you look at the latest pic of the girl you can see that her head proportions are not all correct. Making her head bigger upwards and some backwards would make it look more realistic. If you have any paint-doll-model (I dont know the name for it in english^^ but you know of of those you can look at while you are drawing) you could look at it. Thats the only tip I can give you for now. Make sure to upload more soon!

DARKMizusasuke - Thankyou for the continued support you are a very valuable fan. I will admit that the shading was not easy and attempting to recreate it in ink will be very difficult. I have thought of a way round this and will try it out on a few manga frames later. Costume design can also be difficult especially thinking up unique distinctive outfits for the main characters. I will give some tips on costume design later if you want them. As for the chick who has turned up in the cover and on other designs her name is Siarenna or Wren for short. She is not due to turn up for a while.... I will keep tight lipped about who she really is and her role for now........

Ivy - Thankyou very much for the awesome drawing. Your friendship and support is invaluable. I'm still practicing and polling ideas on the shading front but there will be more shaded stuff off me. The backrounds are all thanks to my dad who is a landscape artist and helped me out on landscape drawing. Thanks dad! You are right in thinking thats the moment Mikayla loses her arm. Your seriously using that as a backround. Wow thats a real compliment! I am currently working on some of Mikaylas backround as a short. Expect to see it posted in the coming months.

Right two new updates today. First one page 7 of the rainy one nothing too exciting there......

The second drawing is another colour experiment and a title page (I know the writing is wonky, I have since invested in a ruler) for a larger project I am redoing. More of this will come later on depending on how I orgress with it....

You are really good at what you are doing, you know that right? ^_^ I really like them, you can see that you have worked with them both really well. Taking your time to get that right "touch" on them. I special like the first one, it looks like to took a awful long time to finish! Its really, really good! The second is also good, but maybe her face is a little "flat" from the side, but that is no harm in that at all because its your style in drawing, and its good! Keep it up! Oh, I love that 2nd pic... You colored it wonderfully and she is just beautiful! Great job! Yeah, the title is wonky, hehe =) nothing serious tho. As for the 1st pic, it's awesome. Again, great background and details, rain looks great, that... animalish thing is greatly drawn and the goblin is awesome X] The only mistake here is that characters are a bit too skinny... But you knew that already, so there's not much to say. All in all, great update, bro ^^

What's up sweety? I love the action and how you've experimented with different angles, it's daring and turned out very well. Like someone mentioned, you can tell that you take your time with each peace. I really like what you've done! I also like the cover peace (big-booby-lady ^_^) with the colour. It's just a little large to view online, so (I don't know if you could) maybe u should try to reduce the image sizes.

Oh, yeah, I know I made a blank statement about shading using crosshatching, but here are two examples of how these amazing artsis shade: (Naruto included, but you already have the first few volumes, so I won't show the examples) Hope this helps!
