Electric, Classic or Acoustic guitar?

I thought so myself. The classical guitar is not for classical music. ^^; It's similar to acoustic, but the last 3 strings are nylon.

I am aware of that (I actually have an classical one as well). But for the most part I find that the nylon strings although easier on the uncaloused finger didn't quite give the sound that most people who are taking up guitar are looking for. I also know your always suppose to use the classic position, but I can name quite a few guitars (mostly electrics) where that would be extremely uncomfortable.

I personaly think that it takes more talent to play the acoustic becuse with electric all you have to do is simply bend a string to hav an effect but w/ acoustic it takes alot more to get a warm sound. I recommand a Guild.

I have both an electric and acoustic guitar. Honestly I like the acoustic a lot more, but its all up to you. Also keep in mind that each guitar is different, make sure that if its electric you play a song on it before you but it. Depending on the make it could have a more flat or rounded neck, and depending on what you had before it will throw you're grip off. Ibanez makes great guitars, I've never played one (acoustic or electric) that I didn't like. Personally, not a big fan of Yamaha but they're not too bad. Either way, I think you should get an acoustic. They're harder to learn on, but well worth it in the end. Also you can take them anywhere and play. And, if you learn on acoustic, my friends and I have all found that its easier to pick up the electric later. The acoustic guitar takes more patience in order to get the sounds just right, you can hear you're mistakes and can fix them easier.

I love electric guitars and you can even use headphones with them if you're in an area that can't take lots of noise at the moment... buuut, acoustic guitars have a beautiful sound all their own.

I like Fender electrics and Takamine acoustics.

Fender Electrics are amazing... Especially the Telecaster.

Acoustic, because you can just pick it up and start playing. But there is definitely an awesome feeling when you plug in your electric and switch on overdrive and go nuts.

But I still think acoustic is better to learn on. You have to push harder on the strings to get the right sounds so you get a better handle on the chords and such. That and it keeps you from just playing Green Day all the time.

Also, what Daft said is 100% true. You can dink around on an acoustic guitar and make beautiful music, but you can pour ALL of your emotion out on an electric guitar. You can make your acoustic guitar gently weep about some kind of "open to interpretation" message, but you can make your electric guitar violently lament about every wrong that has ever been committed against you, it all pours out and when you get lost in a song and that happens, and you become one with your guitar and in turn your emotions, it's the most beautiful feeling ever.

That was really gay sounding, but guitar playing is the one thing in the world I take seriously.

I kinda agree (not that you said is gay, which is not ^^ but when I touched my friend's plugged electric guitar, I went craaaaaaaazy~! Electric is like, rock, but acoustic and classic is like, soft.

And I love both.

That Green Day part is what I am doing currently with my friend's guitar. ^^
