Why do YOU go online? What purpose does the internet serve you? It's purpose is to serve me music and to prove that there actually is intelligent people on the other side of this big blue marble. I use the internet as a cyber library for music, literature, and social networking.

I use the internet as a time-killer. I have far too much free time... And thus, I discovered AF. Plus there are a few people that I can only talk to through the internet.

Edit: Oh, and how could I forget the wonder that is YouTube? I mostly use it to listen to music (Dont watch most of the videos that go with them) so thats another purpose that the internet serves for me.

Entertainment. I've got people to chat with, an endless source of articles and sites to read over, some online games, Photoshop, things to watch, etc.

Unlike most of my classmates, my outside social life is kinda restricted due to overprotective parenting, so on normal days I can't go out too often. After schoolwork, this is what I do for fun.

I have no choice really but to be on the internet, my job is to maintain my client's online revenue so I'm on the internet at work and at home. It's in my blood, you can't stop it...

I go through what I think are with-drawl symptoms if I'm without internet access for more than a day. Although ever since I bought myself a PSP it's a been a bit different. The ice storm that we had here a couple months back for example knocked out power for a few days so me and my buddies hung out at Panera's and used the free wi-fi access to watch Youtube videos on our PSPs and we were able to have a good time just chatting and browsing the internet.

Mother nature is going to have to do better than a silly ice storm to take my internet away from me!!

Many things, it's also a good way of contacting someone you couldn't be bothered spending the 15cent text message on.

But mostly educational, you can learn so much on here. Like that time I looked up what foods make your farts stink, I don't think I ever learned something so useful the entire twelve years I had at school.
