Do you name your electronics?

I know I do. :] A bunch of my friends do, too.

I have names for most, if not all, of my electronic items and accessories; my reasoning behind this is that calling them by their product name seems a bit impersonal ... and after all, isn't that the entire statement behind your iPod, or your Laptop, or your Desktop, Wii, PS2, etc? Making them personal?

So, if you're one of the ~~obviously insane~~ people who like to name their electronics, feel free to discuss:

[1] The names of your respective electronic items.
[2] Why you chose those names.
[3] Why you believe naming your things is important, and how much fun it is!
[4] In the case that you don't, explain rationally why you don't believe names for your items are important. Please don't come in and say 'lol, u guys r crazy ppl 4 nameing ur items.' If you don't agree with these, please say it nicely and explain why.

As for me ...

My laptop's name is Kaoru. The laptop I had before this one was named Ascot. Kaoru's name is derived from one of the Hitachiin twins of Ouran High School Host Club, while Ascot is from Magic Knight Rayearth. I don't quite remember why I chose those names.

My cellphone's technical name is Alphonse. Derived from Fullmetal Alchemist, naturally. There's ... sort of an inside joke here. My friends and I used to type Cellphonse instead of Cellphone, which led to the name Alphonse for my phone.

I got an iPod nano today, and his name is Takeru, TK for short. :3 Derived from Digimon Adventure 01 and Digimon Adventure 02. My main reason for choosing Takeru as the name .. well, there's many reasons. One, because i'm involved in one of the greatest Livejournal roleplays i've ever had the pleasure of being associated with, and we have someone playing Takeru. Recently, there was a case in which three members of the daily chatroom continued to hear Takeru's 02 image song, Focus, all in one day. We dubbed this The Takeru Curse. My second reason is because it's green. <3 And Takeru's main color is green.

For the record, since buying the iPod and getting it set up, i've heard Be All Right, Takeru's 01 image song, several times. :]

I don't tend to name majority of my electronics but...

Laptop- Archangel. (more like evil nemesis, LOL) Goofy, yes... but I was out of ideas and it stuck. lol
Ipod video- Spunky.
Ipod mini- Obie

Though it wasn't an electronic gadget... my old Camaro was named Caroline... get it... CARoline. Cheesy, yes... but I miss her so.

This very laptop is named Compootar, and my PSP is named Evil Emperor.

I only named them because they had a place to do so.

I think the habit is rather geeky, so mostly no, but then I got my lovable Blackberry Pearl and I've wanted to name it something, but I haven't thought of one yet.

I thought "Chamberpot of Gold" would match well with the Japanese lucky golden poo cellphone charm I bought for it, but alas, I cannot have it on because it interferes when I try to put it in it's leather pocket.

No. I don't anthropomorphise my electronics. I think it has something to do with me having a fair understanding in how they actually work.

Well my computer is named: ******* ** *** *** 7 *** Why won't you work ***. Well my old one at least was.

My ipod doesn't have name but a slogan. Since everyone makes fun of it being so old it still got black and white screen, so I got a label maker and put on the back of it "color is for rich kids".

My guitar is occasionally refered to as " The Floyd" Because it is a Floyd Rose brand guitar.

Hmm...My Laptop's name is "Damn Mac"
Because i was forced to buy it for school.

My Mp3 player is named "Myeongwol" from a show I watched it's meaning has something to do with moonlight. It's Korean. I can't remember well but I think it's pretty, and I like my purty little mp3, so i named it that.

Then I named my handy-dandy flashdrive, "Danshim" which is also Korean. It's meaning is something like "loyal friend". But i need to buy a newer one..Danshim is old and isn't even a gig, it'll have to be replaced with Danshim v2.0

My Ps2 I named "SHINY because it's teh silver...and shiny..o.o;

Ah!..my cellphone! It's also silver and shiny..but I named it "Eun-hee" instead.
I liked the character who had this name in a show. But then i see in a movie the same name but on a character i don't like so much, so i might change it to the actress' name from the show, "Bae"

And i believe thats it.
