Actually Compiz Fusion..
Dual core is more than enough to run Compiz Fusion, all that matters is the GPU and memory.
my friends and i are all into technology. when it comes to who has what differs. but to make sure that I can top out over an over clocked alien ware I am going to use to 2 quad core processors, and I'm a huge multi tasker. I'm not really into video games, so GPU power is what ever is necessary to do what I need.I am more into movies, and anime so a lot of hard drive, and dvd roms, and networking for streaming to the living room. but processor, and ram I am over kill all the way.
do you know a program that works better than wine. I have a computer down stairs that runs off of ubuntu, so it has open office. but for school I need to use MS office 2003-2007. I currently use 07, but when I go to linux I will have to support 07 for school. and wine wont support it.

Then you need this:
You are not into PC games (just like me), a huge multitasker, and I guess you do some 3D or graphics design?
You wont find a machine better for that than the 8-core Mac Pro, and an OS better for that than Mac OS X. Unless you are willing to consider something like the IBM Intellistation POWER or the SUN Ultra SPARC.

I don't do mac, I am a Linux man because I am apposed to DRM, and support freedom of knowledge. I use samsung for a MP3 player, AMD for processors, acer for monitors (screens made by samsung), WD for hard drives. I'm not saying that Apple, and Windoows cant make good PCs but I vote with my $$$, and choose.

I'm all for Free Software (Free as in Freedom), software that respects your freedom, and I appose DRM and TC.
Apple isn't Microsoft, Apple doesn't use TC in its OS, unlike Steve Ballmer, Steve Jobs never compared Open Source to communism, and Apple actually contributes to the Free Software community.

Mac OS X kernel is full free open source software, the userland is a mix, some of it is open most of it is closed source
The nice thing about Mac OS X, porting GNU/Linux apps is as simple as recompiling them, all the GNU/Linux components are there.
GCC, GDB, X11, etc..
If you want to go fully Free Software then GNU/Linux is the way, I love everything Free Software represent
As long as the software doesn't spy on you, and restrict how you use it, it is fine by me.
You got to give Apple credit where credit is due, especially offering DRM-free music downloads at iTunes
Which means DRM-free music on your iPod
BTW LG-Phillips make the best monitors, and that's what Apple uses.
And you can install GNU/Linux on a Mac (Dual-boot).
