Birthday sub-forum

Does anyone else think this site should have a sub form just for birthdays? We do seem to have a abundance of them here in the misc forum.

Not really, why have a whole sub forum for Birthday we have like 10 birthdays a day here but we only open threads for the pretty active ones.

Well see you can already check when your birthday is and besides,wouldn't you remember your own birthday?

Anyway no because we don't even open up birthday threads everyday and like Jose sand Kitsune said,its only for the pretty active ones.

We don't need one. I know that I for one would just end up treating it like I do the intros subforum anyway. That being completely ignoring it.

I think it would be okay, but problematic in a way. It will progress into something bad. People will probably think, "Hey, easy points."

No, I think it's more special when someone starts a thread for you, instead of having a designated birthday thread.

I brought this up with Bean the other day actually. A birthday subforum (as some poster stated above me), would indeed be the misc equivalent of introductions: only used to up post count and points. Personally, I don't believe that intro should continue to exist (no offense to the mod of said forum). It is utter useless. However, having a birthday subforum, like having a poetry subforum, would separate some of the threads that I generally consider "crap" out of the list of threads in which I might actually find engaging conversation, thus making my life easier. And I'm always looking to make my life easier.

However, Bean said that the adminstrators do not wish for misc to have subforums. Then again, apparently they do not wish for misc to have 4 mods either.

Introductions might not be the most well used in terms of post content, but it is a important section for new members - especailly thoughs who are little experience of forums. Take away introductions and where will people introduce themselves? Why here in misc of course! Intro sections are almost in every large forum on the net as they are needed as a point of first refrence for new members.

As for birthdays, I can't really see a need for a subforum for them. There are at most only two or three running each day which is hardly dominating the misc forum. Now if there were 10-20 running each day and they were getting more than just copy/past posts then I could understand the desire for them to have their own section - but as it stands I cannot see a need for a change here

I think having it would make it a lot easier for users to first check if a birthday thread exists for the person they wish to make one for. But, you are right overwatch, there is 1 birthday thread for every 3 intro threads. Though, I do disagree that intro is all that useful. Simply browsing the rules and almost any other thread will teach them the same things.
