Sub or Dub?

Oh i'm sure this has been done already.

But i'll ask, when it comes to watching anime, do you prefer Dub or sub?

I for one actually prefer Dubs. Why?i simply like watching things in my own language. There are dubs that are actually better then the original sub counter part.

Cowboy bebop, Trigun(i thought) Ranma1/2(i thought) Maison Ikkoku. etc.

Agreed, although for the most part i like Subs because it's gets easier to understand the language the more you hear it.

I like subs a little better, but they often get screwed up.
Some of the dubs are great, but again, they often get messed.
I dunno, I tend to watch both versions, seeing as I have a load of free time.

I prefer subs. . . I guess, because I don't really like some dubs. . . I'm a fan of BLEACH and when I saw the dub, I didn't really like it, maybe because I was so use to listening to the original voice actors and stuff. . . ^^;

I like subs better, because the voice is the original Japanese voice, and when I watch anime in Japanese, it sounds more realistic. Also, sometimes, the dubs are really annoying, and they can't always pronounce the names properly.

Well, I prefer dub over sub, I don't watch anime to home-up on my reading skills, I watch it for entertainment. I'd rather leave the reading to somthing interlectual like a book, not some Japanese cartoon.

I like subs better, because the voice is the original Japanese voice, and when I watch anime in Japanese, it sounds more realistic. Also, sometimes, the dubs are really annoying, and they can't always pronounce the names properly.

I'm very tired of people saying "The Japanese sound better" as their only excuse as to why they hate Dubs, it's pretty much every fan's only excuse.

The truth is? The Original content won't be mimmicked because the English voice actors, can't speak Japanese: I think( and this is only my opinion) The problem that most people who say "Dubs suck because of the voices" have is that they believe that Anime should be untranslated and that the Japanese track is holy gospel.

My opinion on this is that Dubs are an Adaptation and people automatically should lower their expectations: I Love Dubs, but honestly, people are far too critical on them, Far Far too critical

Anyone who says "I think so and so's voice sucked and was better in Japanese?" - needs to try voice acting for themselves like I've been doing for a year and a half and form an opinion

it's not easy work. and people should be a little more considerate when forming an opinion.

I guess I gotta say both.

Some animes sound better in japanese and it actually helps me study nihongo, I just self study you see so have no teacher to teach me pronounciation (If your wandering why I'm trying to learn nihongo, it concerns work, I'M NO JAPANOPHILE!!!!).

English dubbed also sounds good, hmm let's take Full Metal Alchemist for example, they won a cuople of rewards for their dubbing. Samurai Champloo too, I don't hate the japanese but I like the english dub way better. Another would be Cowboy Bebop, It's like it was made to be in English.

I prefer the dub ususally, but I'll almost always watch the sub as well.

As for favorite dubs, Cowboy Bebop, FMA, FLCL (even the creator said he thought the dub was better), and Samurai Champloo.

I watch anime to WATCH it, not read and slightly watch it.

TBH it all depends on how good the Dubbing is done. If the dubbing is proper and the feeling, tone, atmosphere are maintained, I like the Dubbed just fine.

IF they are going to hack the dubbing all up and make the characters say dumb junk, then i'd rather read the subtitles.

I so agree with StabWound! The DBZ orginal voice actors sound like they're sucking on helium! Goku doesn't sound manly or kind at the same time at all! The dub actually does a pretty good job! I agree on this one, that I would give DBZ an exception.

How can i pay attention to the stories and what goes on, when I'm too busy reading the subtitles?

Although i do watch some animes in sub, because there were no dubs for them. Such as Urusei Yatsura, though the show is amazing and a classic, i would like to hear it in english.(though the movies are dubbed)

Although the sub cast is amazing.

Also i tend to avoid subs when watching something very dialogue heavy and deep(Philosophical i suppose)

Not mine. My problem with dubs is that they often end up having scenes cut out or the script altered. If those deleted parts weren't supposed to be in the anime, then they wouldn't be. I'm tired people picking and choosing which scenes to run and which ones to cut. It's not their creation to mess with. If they're going to run it they should as it was meant to be. (And I'm not including extremely explicit content in this, if they wanted to run it on say, Cartoon Network. But even considering that, they left certain parts in Naruto that some parents might find questionable for their children to watch.)

Actually it may not be there creation granted, but they have been given the responsibility to show it to the mass market, so its obvious that they are going to cut things out that maybe unsuitible to children, personally I think they failed this has children are still able to watch InuYasha and Naruto, but hey, they tried.

The only time they ever cut things out of Dubs, is when they go to 4Kids and they're scewed from the regular show.

Also: Clarification?: Scenes from shows are usually cut in Edits For TV Only. not on DVD's.
