Ever given up?

What dream have you given up on? Was it because you didn't think you had the potential to achieve something or because it was impossible anyway? Or was it something else?

I'm trying to accomplish my dreams. I sometimes imagine what would happen if I just gave up on them. But the person I try to be every single day of my life won't let me. Sometimes it seems like it would be so easy, so simple, perhaps even better...but I know it's not.

Anyway, I'm done rambling. What about you?

Ive given up on a lot of dreams. I wouldn't say they were impossible to accomplish, I just have a hard time sticking things out till the end. I usually give up if its something that requires a lot of energy, or that may take a while to accomplish. I find things is life a drag, even my dreams. Ill most likely give them up at some point.

I have no dreams, merely malleable expectations. To set rigid goals or to dream of something relentlessly for years can only lead to eventually feeling as though life isn't correct or isn't complete.
I once wanted to be a commercial pilot, but did no longer once I realized that a pilot on psychoactive drugs isn't likely to be allowed off the ground with other people under his care. Then I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer, but paled when I researched the average hours worked per week. I've now shifted my goal to being a mechanical engineer. If this changes out of necessity, I likely won't feel any regret or sadness.
My dreams are those things I think I'd like to do but know I have absolutely no chance of doing. Because I never actually expect these things to happen, it doesn't matter when they don't.

One of my childhood dreams was to become a Karate master, but I gave up on Karate. I moved on to other martial arts and am happy, 'cause I don't like to be countering and defending all the time! I was also influenced by Bruce Lee, who thought there is no master, because we are students, still learning. I quit Karate for several reasons, one being that it is all forms and light contact sparring. I wanted a more offensive, effective, and faster style. A street fighting sort of style, with simplicity and liberation. I know that it was I who crushed my dream, but I didn't care. Alot of my dreams are crushed anyways. Remember: absorb and take what is useful, reject and dispense what is useless, and add what is specifically your own!

Seriously. All they have to do is put a "pull" sign on a "push" door and you are trapped in the store for the rest of your life.

That is why majority of grocery store doors open automatically. People don't expect Americans to think about such unfathomable complexities as to how to open a door.

Actually, that's out of convenience. You see, when you're buying a week or two's worth of food at a time for a family, it usually requires something called a shopping cart. These devices sometimes makes opening a door difficult.

I'm sorry to crush your dream of having a witty remark about Americans at every opportunity, but some people just aren't cut out for that kind of humor.

Everyone has given up on some dream one time or another. When I was really young I wanted to be a Computer Tech at NASA, but when I turned 15 I realized that it wasn't going to happen. I was pointed more toward PLC Control and Automation. Looks like that's the field I'm going to go into.

That's not to say that when one dream is blown away and reality hits you in the face you can't make a new dream out of it. I have.

That is quite true. But I have always been a penguin, so perhaps it was just my child-hood conscious telling me that this wasn't the right path.

Not really. I tend to accomplish my dreams. I'm always thinking about the future, and what I would like to do and be, but until I become determined to go for it I don't consider it a "dream."

And, like I said, I've attained each and every one of those determinded dreams XD
