As I mentioned in the shower/bath thread, which when last I checked was on the verge of a pseudopolitical discussion about who wastes bathwater, most mature, interesting topics end up in Pay to Post, because here in Misc they were getting spammed and igniting flame wars.
I enjoy Misc being completely vapid on occasion, it gives me an excuse to be sarcastic.
Besides, if we didn't have bouts of borderline spam threads now and again, you wouldn't appreciate the decent threads.
Akira, are you just saying this stuff because you are one of the ones who posts pointless threads?
Pointless threads aren't a big deal, but it is kinda ridiculous to come and see a post asking if you like the Nestle logo. I mean, really, do we have to have a discussion about a picture on merchandise?

I was going to link you to it, but I couldn't find the posting guide in Eris's blog.
But this is what it said:
Before starting a thread, ask yourself:
Does anyone really care?
Does this really matter?
[There were some other questions, but I can't remember them]
Anyways, its not that these threads are completely useless, its just that there needs to be a balance. And if there is no balance, the misc threads get flooded. Most people don't post new threads because they prefer posting on good discussion topics instead of bath vs. showers.

Welcome to the internet.
Where every thread ever posted in the history of, has always been called stupid by someone.
Haha, I wasn't directing that part of the post at Akira. I was just asking if the reason why he (or she) was posting the same post more than once and defending pointless threads because he is one of the ones who does it. The ones that defend stuff like this are typically the ones that do it, which is why they defend it in the first place.
Yeah, some pointless threads are okay but some just really are completely... pointless. People should learn the okay pointless from the completely pointless threads, and everyone would be happy

I create threads once in a while, but I usually only do so if I have something interesting to share or would like to discuss something that can actually be discussed.. I would much rather have a few deep threads than a mountain of pointless ones.
I also love how you felt the need to post this twice:
And you need to stop your attention seeking..

if everyone would just post some senseful threads that make more sense like
few threads down titled "Favorite film weapon" or "Spare time" or even
"Your dream guy/girl" misc would be much better then just posting random crap like bath or shower? or do u like carebear? 1 or 2 is fine but spaming the same crap all over again is annoying.
Sorry, but I too noticed it.
I just thought it wasn't worth mentioning...
I mean, it's been said before, please don't
type your posts like this.
It can become a bit of an nuisance.
I don't mind too much, but others might.

I don't see much wrong with the way he types. At least he
doesn't
type
like
this
as
I've
seen other
members do.
Which is really irritating to read.
Everyone's got their own way of typing it's not that noticeable actually, just a few extra spaces =/
Edit: Ya know, this has turned from a thread about dumb topics to a flame war against Akira. Give the guy a break, we weren't perfect when we first joined, were we? =/

I couldn't help but lol, just a little. Eye-roh-knee.
Anyhow, I like Akira. Kid's got spunk.
As for the breaking up posts like this, I feel it should be reserved for a change in the course of the discussion.
On the other hand, there are far more annoying things to do in a forum, Like Post In All Caps So Your Text Looks Like This.

Just thought I'd take the a snapshot of the rules thread and chuck it here since people don't seem to read sticky notes nowadays. Don't mean to offend anyone by doing this. I just thought that it was a good opportunity to Spam the rules. Do feel free to delete my post or edit if need be. My opinions after the rules.

"Q. Can I swear?
A. No! Alluding to swearing is not allowed either. We don't want to be explaining to a nine year old why you said that word you did. And no, you're not clever if you think you're fooling the censors.
Q. Do people care how I post?
A. Well, lets put it this way. dO u EnJoY rEaDiN' sTuFf wRoTe LiEk tIs?
Yea, we don't either. If you want people to respond to you, write the best you can.
Q. Can I talk about sex, drugs, and rock and roll?
A. You can talk about two of the three. Rock and Roll belongs in J-Pop. But we do welcome mature discussions about the other topics. But it has to be mature. No "I got so wasted" or "This girl was so hot and we..." We want to hear mature opinions.
Q. I can't see a post on my topic, can I post it?
A. How hard did you look? If you used the search function and you're sure the topic belongs in misc, then yes. If you didn't search...well the misc mods know everything and we will swoop in and shut you down. We're good like that.
Q. I want to chat randomly with people, can I do that?
A. Sure you can--in the chat room. Misc is not the place for it.
Q. X said something I disagree with. It's ok to flame him right?
A. No. It's not. Report the thread or PM one of the misc mods. Leave the flames for marshmellows.
Q. I have a question you haven't answered.
A. PM us. We're friendly and only Missy bites--and that's only on days that end in Y. You can also post in this thread. However, stupid questions will lead to warnings.

Also, there aren't any definite guidelines as to what can be put up and what can't. I myself have seen less thought provoking threads than usual and it is a shame since I find it rather pointless to provide my inputs on those threads as well.
Having said that, this is still the Misc forum, the grand, often abused forum where we're suppose to have fun but not overabuse. So according to the rules anything goes. Plus, it will be a little tough and cumbersome to start labelling threads which are pointless and those which are not. Lots will start complaining about why their threads have been deleted and you'd probably have to start giving reasons to each one. Finally, we might start losing users if this is implemented though I'm not quite sure how large a problem this will cause.
Solution? I think those who have posted here need to start looking up more useful topics of discussion to bring up the level. We already have over 10 posters here and if we each create one that should suffice. Its not easy, but it should work to mix in more interesting threads amongst those "do you take baths or showers" ones.

Someday, we'll come up with a miracle filter that prohibits:
-Does anyone else here like "etc."? (Insert anime, cartoon, character, voice actor, regular actor, etc.)
-Who's better...? (Insert characters you have seen compared)
-Who's your favorite character? -and then not specifying which anime the characters are from until the person that started the thread lists the characters they like. This I find frustrating.
-I LOVE (ETC) DOES ANYONE ELSE?! I Loooooooooooove (etc)
And goodness knows what else can be blocked. Creating such a filter would be more amazing than finding Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey remarried and lasting more than two years.

It is just because we are getting a whole bunch of retarded oh look at me young teens all of a sudden who do not know how to use the search button.
