Strange Conditions?

Does anyone else here have a strange medical condition?
I don't mean stuff like, "I have dandruff," I mean the -really- out there conditions.
For example, I have synesthesia, which is a neurological condition. Basically, my brain is hardwired differently, and the sensory areas are crossed. In essence, I see sounds because of it (which means I have mad audio memory skills).

What about the rest of you?

Essential tremor is a neurological disorder characterized by shaking of hands (and sometimes other parts of the body including the head), evoked by intentional movements. The exact incidence is unknown, but it is presumed to be the most common type of tremor and also the most commonly observed movement disorder

I guess I was something of an optimist when I thought it would be happy conditions, too... I'd rather cut off a leg than lose my synesthesia, honestly. I'd never heard of Essential Tremors before, though, so you taught me something new.

I've heard of this condition a few times before, it's a really awesome condition to have. My mother says that when I was younger, I used to describe music to her in colors instead of sounds so I may have had it (Maybe still do, don't really know how to classify if I have it or not =/)

As for other conditions, I have a mild state of heterochromia. In other words, my eyes arent always both the same color. Most people who have it usually have to very differently colored eyes that stay that way all the time. For me, one may change colors while the other doesn't =/ Usually they stay the same color; green, as long as I'm in mild/moderate lighting but sometimes one may change colors while the other stays green. Rather strange but I think it's pretty interesting...

I also have social phobia but thats not important or strange =/

Synesthesia does have its downsides. Specifically, having my iPod cranked up on shuffle, and BAM! "Real Emotion" comes on like a neon-pink broadsword that someone stabbed between my eyes.

And all the cool kids have social phobia. Didn't you know?

Yes, I do have a strange condition- apparently it's so rare that many doctors don't even spot it and tend to misdiagnose it for other things, especially Epilepsy.

In fact, I was misdiagnosed with Epilepsy for 18 years.

What I have is a more severe, rare form of Reflex Anoxia Syncope. Usually a person with RAS will faint by the sight of blood, stuff like that- in my case, I'll have what looks like a grand mal seizure. Where a person's heart beats quicker when they're in panic, mine slows down and oxygen stops flowing to my brain causing what looks like a seizure. I don't get it from the sight of blood though. Mine happens with certain forms of pain, anxiety, and sometimes it goes hand in hand with my hypoglycemia, when my blood sugar drops. There's been controversy about how dangerous the severe form could be with the loss of oxygen to the brain and the heart beating so slow, BUT there's never been a reported death due to it, so I don't really worry about it.

I had been taking anti-epileptic medication for, well- pretty much all of those 18 years... and apparently that was just making it worse. Go figure.

Luckily, I can usually feel when an episode's coming and can try and lay down so I don't fall down and really hurt myself. (I've gotten injured before from when I fell during an episode, because I go completely unconscious so I just thud. lol) My last episode was during the spring of last year, so I'm pretty happy about that because it's been a while! *knocks on wood* lol

That is bada**. Bet you are like the ultimate guitar hero player :3 I have scoliosis. It's not really strange. My mom describes it as, "She grows sideways instead of growing straight." x.X; Since mine is bad, the only way to get it fixed is through surgery by cutting out one of my ribs and using it on my spinal cord. Then they put two stainless steel cords beside my spine to keep it straight.

I'm currently afflicted by Bell's Palsy, which is basically the medical term for "Your face is paralyzed on one side and we don't exactly know why." Most cases are temporary, lasting a couple of weeks. Some last years, and some never go away though. Personally, I'm hoping for the first one. My case is fairly mild, however, so it shouldn't be too big a deal.

I hope this counts, if not, well, I'm sorry. e_O;;

Ohhhh i envy you as well.I want different colored eyes!(lol)

Well anyway,I don't know if this is a very rare condition and i don't know if theres a name for it but...........

At certain times a year i'll get these extreme pains in my legs and i'll be out of school for about a week.I have went to the docters before,got X-rays,and even took medecine for it once,but all they could say was

"We couldn't find anything wrong with your legs"
"This medecine should help calm it down"

Well none of it worked.
The problem later discovered was that my bones were trying to grow but my muscles weren't with them,so it causes me insuferable pain and I have to deal with it until it stops.It already happened once this year already.......=_= and it hurts like hell.

The docter told me once that i'm suppose to grow to at least be 5'8 but then he told me that my not happen if my muscles don't start growing with my bones.So i'll be for 4'9 for like forever (whimper)

If anyone may no what this is called,please tell me.And if its rare,I seriously don't know (lol)

I have Asperger's Syndrome. Basically, I lack most empathy unless I know someone really well, my senses are more accute, though that's all in my brain, not my sensory organs, I apply myself to a code for each situation rigidly, and I have a great deal of difficulty tearing myself away from a task if it has become a goal of mine. I often fall into such intense focus that it can take minutes for me to realize if someone is trying to get my attention. I also develop strange fixations on unusual subjects. For me, I've been an aviation nut for years and I have a bizarre fascination with dictators and the Cold War.
Prior to the age of 14, I was diagnosed with ADD, and so had been on stimulants (like Ritalin), further screwing up my mind. I know have a tremendous caffiene dependence and jitters and shakes.
Another wonderful symptom of all this crap is that I get stuck in cycles (repeating the same thoughts over and over for 1/2 hour) if severely aggravated; Dr.McDoom: Reloaded was unfotunate enough to bear the brunt of one of these cycles (on the forums) a while back. If aggravated further while in one of these cycles, I start acting like an autistic, rocking back and forth on the floor while repeating some phrase again and again.
To try and regulate all this, I've been put onto three seperate drugs which, all together, stabilize my mood, eliminate some of the jitters, and allow me to manage my own emotions more easily, including the residue of empathy I retain.
I am horribly akward and formal in social situations, I can't interpret inflection and body language very well, and I say whatever comes to mind, often at the expense of others.
I interpret spoken communication literally, further ruining social situations, and I avoid them because of all this.
Depending on which authority you believe, Asperger's Syndrome is either equivalent to high functioning or mild autism or is an unrelated disorder.
Ultimately, I have severe deficits in verbal and silent communication that creates social and emotional consequences.
I also can't handle high levels of oxygen, though I've no inclination to think this is related to the above.

On the more benign side of things, I have a double-joint on each side of my jaw.

Nope... I'm not very interesting. The only thing I have is minor OCD, major hypochondria, panic disorder, and sarcasticitis. But those are all disorders, not conditions, and those disorders aren't even strange XD!

i...have a condition....but i don't know what it's called...not even the doctors i went to had a name

basically when i get really sad i can turn it into anger in an instant (yeah i know that's natural but apparently in my case it's "extreme") and have a violent blackout...everyone here watches anime so i'm sure you'll have some kind of picture in your heads...

the thing is i see everything and think clear at first, but then i sort of,....faint. and when i completely regain control of myself i've hurt someone o.O (mind the doc said i would only attack people that i subconsciously or whatever hate or i know that has hurt me severely) if noone is around that i react to then i return to that state of sadness for a while and generally fall asleep (because i get tired very fast or somethin)

yeah i know people think i'm kidding now and i wish so myself but it's not. and it's scary as hell i tell you.

It is Arrogant Pissed Off Syndrome. It is non curable, and a legit condition that is commonly found these days. There is no medication. At every work place, at every school, there is always a few who have it. I am one of those and damned proud of it.

That actually sounds kind of cool. It reminds me of one of my mother's friends who has one blue eye and the other is half blue half green. People call him 'Sony Trinitron'.

It's not that serious but i have a heart flutter, which acts up once in while it can get quite painful, but it's not that bad, i also have a slight case of OCD, but its actually more common than you think.

I used to have that. It's common in young people, especially girls. I was hospitalized when I was 12-13 for an unrelated condition. For a period of time I was hooked up to a heart monitor. What fun for someone with a "heart flutter." I would be sitting quietly, minding my own business, when the nurses would fly into the room in a panic, demanding I stop exerting myself and sending my heart racing. Too funny.

I'm also hypoglycemic. Nothing terribly unusual about that. I just have over-efficient insulin, so my blood sugar level drops drastically if I'm not careful. I used to black out all the time until we knew what it was and how to treat it. Just have to get enough protein throughout the day.
