...i am also about 60 % emo ...lol i like some clothes and some music but dwell in rock and blues more ... prefer skating clothes aswell *more comfy how ever im still classed as an emo by mostly everyone i know! which is sterotyping because im a skater..litaterally!!!

hm..now about cutting ..i have tried ....lol but its not very fun..when depressed. what cutters should do if there depressed is not leave the house and just drink and play guitar (accoustic) ..helps alot for me and maybe for others ..suggest try it!

Unless you're a masochist I really don't see any point in it. If you're suicidal there are much more efficient ways to end your life.

To be honest, I laugh because whenever I hear or read the word "emo" I think of "Emo," and he used to stab the keys of his Hammond Organ in concert with hunting knives to hold certain notes, leaving the keys all cut up. FWAHAHAHA!!!
I also find it curious that when some autistic job like me gets all upset and starts pounding their head on the floor*, it is universally accepted as a sign that all is not well in the once peaceful valley, whereas about a third of the posts here are supporting cutting oneself as an acceptable practice. How in hell can you rationalize that? Both actions (apparently) provide some sort of release or calming, both are harmful, and both are brought on by oneself. Either I should be able to be universally accepted as a head pounder along with the cutters, or both acts should be labeled as harmful, ritualistic acts that need to be corrected at once...right? It would only be fair...

My look on it:

i find a problem with cutters, however, i also find a problem with people who criticize others that know that it will make their condition worse, when someone is alienated, that's even worse.

It's a cry out for attention. You say it's not but it is. Accept this. If it wasn't, you would've never said that you cut yoursef as well. It doesn't help you and you know this.
What you want is to be saved and then when no one saves you, you beome depressed.

It really depends. They might be craving for attention, but at least craving is an emotion.
But some people do it because they feel nothing, they are numb, they want to feel something one way or another. I know people who used to do that, the action itself seems mindless, but it takes courage and desperation all the same.
I dunno, maybe we all complain that it's a stupid thing to do. But if you think about it, they are the ones who are hurt, and the people around them are probably responsible for it.

People make fun of cutters, because of the old unfallable fear of the unknown. They are unable to understand what could make people so destructive that they would find a means that might kill them in the end. 'Death does make cowards of us all.' Then they decide that whatever is creating this need for mutilation, is the own person's fault.

While, I do believe that a person has a choice whether or not to, I've come to understand that sometimes that is the only way for certain people to feel anything at a given moment. I won't say I like it, but it is beyond control sometimes. And I would like to note that people who resort to that are victims to their own lives or even minds.

Those people are complete and total morons. Being the steriotypical emo and cutting had become a fad at my old school. I couldn't understand why the bloody hell (excuse my British) people would do that and show off their scars like some kind of groteque trophy of their own boredom. It's pathetic. The people who don't showcase their mutilation are the people who are in serious trouble, but they will never ask for help or anything because those idiots really have made it a "laughing matter."

Well in Opinionated's defense, being too weak to beat something is one of the definitions of sucking.
