Why is ED so short?

I'd say it was more for a running gag. That or Ed hasn't been drinking his milk.

I think it is that it is just because that is how Ed is. Just, I dunno a trait he has.

But as other people have been saying it did come up in the mangea that when they dpropped their blood it mixed. So when Al's bodie was taken away it turned out so that Ed sportted him. I don't renember it saying it was true but they said it was a therey. So that might be why. Witch is also his reason for sleeping so much.

But yes Ed must drink his milk! Or at least eat some cheese! >D

The reason Ed is so short is because he has 2 give part of his strength (and height) to Al's physical body who is trapped in where the truth is. . . he has 2 sleep a lot as well. . . that is why he isn't very tall!
that and he doesn't drink milk or take vitamins XD

I'm guessing because the story starts when he is only 12 years old. Also probably the lack of milk. I am extremely small for my age and I hate milk and have not drank it in over 12 years.

I think FMA is a Action/Comedy anime, Ed is so short because it plays in his role as a heavy attitude, but toward the end of the series it doesnt bother him so much, and after her get through the gate He is taller.

FMA also teaches great lessons.

I like the Ed rants on being short. It's mainly for humor purposes.
Also, It's not very uncommon for the Japanese to be shorter then the expected average. Also, Ed might not have hit the growth spurt yet.

 

In the manga it is mentioned that Ed is providing for Al's body as well and so that his nutrients are being sucked up by Al's real body- hence why he also sleeps a lot -....well that is Ed's reasoning anyway

I might feel sorry for him.........but i am short too. four eleven. just like the poor idiot. (Crazy fangirl) I think Goku(from saiyuki) is just as tall as him though. and hes 518. now that says something. haha and they both like food. I've only watched a couple of episodes, so I don't know a lot. But in my opinion, I think it's because of his metal arm and leg. It could also be because he hasn't had his growth spurt. After all, some guys don't get their growth spurt until they're 18.
