How would it be if L didn't die and Light would be in jail? Would you still like it?

Well.... I loved L and I was pissed off when he died.... The manga changed a little bit worse after that... ^^;
But I guess if L wouldn't die and Raito would be in jail the ending could be a little bit "boring"... It wouldn't be so different...And it was good that you couldn't say how it will end...
So kinda hard to say.. I think I would still like it... But then I think it shouldn't be so long serie anymore... (it might be boring...)

I can assure you Light would certainly not be in jail... he'd be dead o_O;. As much I'm an L fan girl (I mean seriously, I love the guy), I think it was right for him to die. Though I cried, it still added more interest and suspense to the series. Light would not make it to 30+ episodes if L was still alive, thus continuing Death Note, which makes me happy : D!

I'm a total L fan girl so of course I'd want him around T.T it's just not the same with the great detective himself to challenge kira (light), still i liked how it turned out in the end that Near replaced him, he's so cuuuuuuuute with his little toy robots! XD but it wasn't the same still with out L i guess, but if anyone had to replace him it'd be Near definitely, but if L was still alive and light was in jail I'd be disappointed and say it was such a cliche ending, but i guess death note wouldn't be death note if it didn't end first season with a good twist, after L died i kinda got bored after watching the second season episodes and went with the end and said 'yeah maybe it's good it ended with light dieing, i didn't like his psycho side anyway ^-^' " heck i was with him when he planned to just get rid of criminals but then he started to save his identity by killing innocent people, thats kinda low of him T---T

Well, even though I watched the whole series, I was really disappointed when L died.

I actually stopped watching Death Note for a few days, as it ruined it in my opinion.

I just think it was stupid having a Kid who plays with childrens toys capture Light instead of L.

I do agree with you on this. He was like a coward to do it. This is why I support L so much. At the time I read to the point at L's death it was just too mess up to me. Also Death note does feel like it drags too much. And Near taking down Kira. I can't see that working out cause he didn't have any experience compare to L who I think was a master at it. Furthermore putting Misa Amane in the middle didn't look like a good idea to me. She got lucky on alot of things.

I agree with Pengin-san. I LOVE L and all, but I really like what path the story took. I doubt I would change a thing if I had it my way. Oh, btw...

Actually, I don't think L did survive. They just didn't show him dying. I can't remember the exact details, because I watched it in a room with a bunch of screaming fan girls, myself being one XD! It had something to do with he didn't die when his name was written in a fake Death Note, however he still had to risk his life and write in the real one. Something like that, I honestly can't remember correctly. I could be wrong though.

Near the end of the movie you see him at HQ, at the couch with his chocolate bar, before falling over and dying peacefully.

I liked the complexity, however Near ruined it for me. The only thing I liked about him was quirky toy fet- I mean obsession o_O;. Otherwise, I felt he was just another L insert. And I do agree with Light, he's nothing compared to L.

 

I wish Mello hadn't died. In the manga and the anime, you really didn't get to learn much about him.

But that's the best part of the story! Reading/watching the exact moment when Light starts loosing it. "It's just him/her, just to protect the future of the Perfect World", it was like he was on drugs and couldn't stop himself. *Total Light/Kira fan*

I love L as well, but him dying was a good plot twist (although I didn't like Near and Mello... they were just too much "like L" for me). And Light dying was a perfect ending <3

I don't really think It mattered that he died in the very end. It's less effective than dying in the middle of the anime series. It was all over anyway, so why not die?
