For all of you people out there who don't know, Mugen is a 2D Fighting Game engine, it basically allows you to live the possibilities of characters from a number of fighting games to fight each other in stages from different games or sources. Ever wondered if Ronald McDonald can beat Shao Kahn? Those sorts of possibilities.

Well, I create stages for Mugen, and I thought I'd post some of my work here. But really, just out of curiosity, how many people here have it?









All these stages were made by me except for the second one, which was done by me and a friend.

i watched the videos on Mugen before, it was very interesting! like Haruhi Suzumiya and friends (Haruhi no yuutsu) against Konata (Lucky Star) and Konata against Homer (The Simpsons)

is it a free download? and uh.. if yes, can you give meh the link on PM?

Yup Mugen is free, but you'll have to learn how to add the characters and stages in yourself. I'll PM the link to you.

Also, if you will take note, 3 of those 4 screens are Melty Blood stages that I've edited.

I have M.U.G.E.N. and love it, though some characters released aren't fully developed and can cause glitches --even cause the game to crash--. But there is alot of customization that can be done. I'd say no two M.U.G.E.N. games are alike which are owned by two completely different people.

have mugen and there's one thing i don't like...

some people are severely overpowered. i know that some joke characters like ssj5 Broly is supposed to be like that and maybe sephiroth also but there are some (can't remember names atm) that are just bad to play with since they are too hard to play against or too easy to play with....

overall to get a good mugen experience you have to do alot of experimenting to really enjoy it^^

but hey that's just what i've been experiencing...

Yeah, there are alot of cheap chars out there, but sometimes those overpowered guys are worth a challenge I guess, even if they can be a pain...

Yes I have MUGEN too, unfortunately I don't play on it much. Too much hassle to find decent characters, and getting all the things to work without glitching, like background music and selecting sprites on variations.

On my MUGEN, I had Bobby from worms, as well as that Koopak from Super Mario. Then I added in Ryu and Ken from Street Fighters, as well as some Sailor Moon characters and Marvel characters...

The superpowered cheap characters were always the ones from Sailor Moon, say Chibi Moon to be precise.

Hence why I never got much into it, I'd personally like to edit the AI and the power and stamina of the character easily, if I could've done that I'd have stuck to MUGEN, unless Saiyajin Mui wouldn't mind sending me his version of MUGEN... :P

However, I'll need to get into the mood for playing this sort of game, as I would need to tweak the system, changed a couple of characters, add in my own soundtracks and all... Seems like a lot of hardwork for an open gamesystem.. But doesn't mean I won't give it a go.

I know what you mean. Making stages requires you to...

1. Rip the images from the game(s) you're making stages from.

2. Make them 256 colours

3. Align them correctly in Fighter Factory

4. Code the stage in notepad

5. Test the stage

6. Add music

7. Test the stage again to see if music suits the stage

8. Then finally, a release

I had Mugen once too, just got too lazy to add the stages and characters after a while.

But it's a pretty good fighting game, especially if you find good characters.

I've got three different version of it. Mugen, Hi-Res Mugen and Mugen Plus. I might as well delete Mugen and Hi-Res Mugen since Mugen plus does their jobs for me. I might chuck up my stage W.I.P.S from time to time here, so those interested in Mugen or my stages, keep an eye out for them!

Ahh, Mugen. I used to put videos of random Mugen fights on youtube all the time. I guess after a roster of about 500 characters I just got bored of it after a while but I may start messing with it again soon.

I was never actually fan of mixing dozen of games into one...
I've seen M.U.G.E.N. with...I don't know how many exactly,but there was many,oh many characters...
No offense to anyone who uses it,but I find it very stupid...

Mixing characters...I mean,placing beautifully done Guilty Gear character to fight against some lame creation that looks 16bit-ish won't work for me...
Judging from the minds,I could expect a fight between SSJ4 Goku and Pikachu,and Pikachu wins...
Fighting games aren't created to be mixed with eachother...
Especially when some of them usually have very,and I mean very lame movement,while some other guy is unbeatable with his 1 Hit K.O.
It's just fully loaded with characters that aren't supposed to fight against eachother...

But hey,that's only my opinion...
