Definitely Asian Kung-Fu Generation's "After Dark". I was waiting for it for so long it, and it was just so good that it really beat my expectations.

Also:
"Yuigahama Kite", the B-side on the "After Dark" maxi.
"Gunpowder Valentine" by Ellegarden, which i overplayed last spring.
"Bleed It Out" by Linkin Park, though I never get passed the second verse, because it's just that awful. Seriously...get rid of Chester already...
"Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva

Really...I didn't think this year was too great for music...at least by my tastes.

To sorta contrast with Xero's opinion on the year of 07's music, I thought this year was a stellar year in music...well, at least, from the hardcore rock fan's perspective.


The Arcade Fire released the brilliant Neon Bible CD; The Decemberist hit it big with more singles from 2006's The Crane Wife; The Shins kept on making incredible music with Wincing the Night Away; Modest Mouse totally rocked the industry with We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank; Jimmy Eat World put out a new CD with the hit "Big Casino"; the Foo Fighters put out "The Pretender" and "Long Road to Ruin", two consecutive awesome singles; Spoon set the Indie world on fire with the oddly named Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga; Against Me made more Conservative bashing/save America music that, even when I disagree with, sounds amazing; The Beastie Boys put out a very good instrumental album; Hot Chip returned with a bang, as did Radiohead...man, there are way too many awesome musical happenings in 2007 to mention. You've got me started..I have to stop myself before I get (more) out of control. xD

Honestly, if your interest in music is more encompassing and you keep and open mind and hear, you'll find that 2007 was a good year for music. Hmm, well, actually, I don't do much rap or country, but for acoustic and many sub-genres of rock..it was a good year. Hell, even rap had Kanye's new CD, Graduation.
