My fav well here are some of them:
1.Gothic 1,2,3 really cool!You should try it!
2.The Eder Scrols Oblivion is really nice big and fun but hard when you get on higher levels!
3.Final Fantasy VIII is the best one by me because its full of emotions and is really cool and i think it has the coolest sumon creatures!I like VII to but the VIII is still the one!
4.I might say KOTOR 1 to its nice i like it more than the second part.
Ohhh i forgot Legend of Dragon to!Cant forget one of the best!
In truth, one of the reasons for that is because Xenosaga, even now that it's been "completed", is a relatively unknown game. I talk to people every now and then, RPG fans like yourself, who have never even heard of it.
Anyways, onto my favorite RPGs. ^^
1.) Xenosaga
2.) Xenogears
3.) Final Fantasy VIII
4.) Odin Sphere
5.) .hack Series
My thanks to Xey Oiz for the awesome new set.
"Screw being normal and be awesome instead!"
RPG's...my favorite genres XD
Here's a short list of my favorites then:
~ FABLE - action/rpg for PC (makes me sad no one mentioned it)
~ Neverwinter Nights - rpg for PC (makes me sad no one mentioned it)
~ Golden Sun - rpg for GBA
~ Golden Sun,the Lost Age - rpg for GBA
~ Chrono Trigger - rpg for SNES (yes,I prefer SNES game rather than PS1)
~ Chrono Cross - rpg for PS1
~ Final Fantasy VI - rpg for PS1
~ Final Fantasy VII - rpg for PS1
~ Xenogears - rpg for PS1
~ Icewind Dale - rpg for PC
~ Icewind Dale II - rpg for PC
right now my faves are final fantasy game and blue dragon
Final Fantasy is, and always will be, my favorite series. Was my first rpg, as a young boy, and I've managed to play them all. Also, it came out the year I was born, giving more reason for 1987 to be the greatest year in history
KOTOR, and KOTOR2 were good ones. I also like the MMO World of Warcraft, and Ultima Online. Or rather, I use to like Ultima Online. As well as Legend of Dragoon.
Shinning force 1 and 2 were great. Final Fantasy 7 was great also.

RPGs, my least favourite genre, barring Tactical-RPGs. So this'll be an easy one for me to decide.
If you do count Tactical-RPGs in, Fire Emblem : Seisen no Keifu is, by a VERY long shot, my favourite game.
If you do not, as the only conventional RPGs I like are Star Ocean 2, Earthbound, Lunar 1 and 2, Tales of Phantasia and Symphonia, and Pokémon, of all of those, I'd say Star Ocean 2 is my fave.
人の悲しみがわかる優しさと
人の悲しみを救える勇気と
人の悲しみに打ち勝つ力を
『「ファイアーエムブレム:聖戦の系譜」のA-ランクエンディング』

2.FFI-FFVIII
3.ANY Legend of Zelda game
4.CHRONO TRIGGER

xenosaga series, blue dragon and final fantasy 7, 10, 12
Kiss me sweet, I'm sleeping in sorrow. All alone, to see you tomorrow. In my dream, I'm calling your name. You are, my love... my love... - "You are my love"
thanky yuki!
I would say Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time, or the ps1 game Threads of Fate. Did anyone ever play that?
My favorite RPG is Pokemon, because i've played it since i was three...
Well I've been around for a long time, so this could be a long list, so I'll keep it simple.
Great RPG companies:
Bioware-Mass Effect, Jade Empire, Baldurs Gate 1 and 2
Square-Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, 12. I'm sorry, 8 had a horrible magic system and it ruined the game for me. The characters were okay, although did you notice that Squall and Tidus act a little similiar? They seem to not want to be hero's, a little selfish, and just standoffish. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy Tactics.
Enix- Dragon Quest
Tri-Ace- Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, and the upcoming Infinite Undiscovery
Level 5- Dark Cloud 2, Dragon Quest 8, Rogue Galaxy, and coming soon White Knight Story
BandaiNamco- The Tales games, Eternal Sonata, .Hack
Nintendo- Earthbound, Fire Emblem (And as a note, why did someone call Earthbound the first? Even the original Mother game for the Famicom came after Dragon Quest. Thats the game that has always led the way.)
Capcom- Breath of Fire 1 and 4
Atlus- These guys are the best, bringing us Tactics Ogre, Persona 1, 2, 3, Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, Disgaia, the list goes on and on.
Nippon-Ichi- Disgaia 2, Ar Tornelico, Altelier Iris, and still going...
And worth noting, Shadow Hearts 1 and 2, 3 was okay, the Wizardry series, Elder Scrolls series, Grandia series, and the games Working Designs released in the US, may their legacy live on.
Okay, think I'm done for now. *breathes*
my favorites r KOTOR, Oblivion, FF7, and KH2. I probably have at least 200 hours in for each of these games and have 100% completion in all of them
My favorite are pokemon and legend of dragoon but I prefer shooting games.
Hmm that must be Final Fantasy VII. Even though there aren't much role playing in it. But the story is just so touching...
Yeah, FF7 had a good story, and I love corporate governments, makes you distrust them all the more. My only complaint is the whole Cloud/Zack thing seemed written at the last minute, and if it was Zack who can to the village in the past, then why didn't Tifa say something sooner? Seems a little suspect.
Thankfully it seems like they are fixing some of that with Crisis Core on the PSP and hopefully a remake of 7 will be soon after. I just hope they don't edit anything. Not sure if the dress up part of the game would be taken out.
Btw, if you own a DS keep an eye out for the Dragon Quest remakes. They are starting with a classic DQ game in 4, which has a great story, great characters, and one of the best final boss fights I remember from growing up.
And for you PSP owners, keep an eye out for the Star Ocean remakes as well as Crisis Core.
Wii owners theres a Dragon Quest game coming in Feb. so keep a look out.
PS3 owners...umm...you're gonna get some great ones, but have to wait, sorry.
PC owners, nothing on the horizon, but if you haven't played The Witcher yet, look into it. Trust me, its awesome.
And Xbox 360 owners, you get Lost Odyssey in Feb and thats the Final Fantasy for the 360 that Blue Dragon wasn't. 4 disks, a story that sounds awesome, a man who lives 1000 years and watches his world and those he loves die around him, and hopefully a very good battle system.
I've become increasingly fond of western RPGs like Mass Effect, KOTOR, Oblivion, Deus Ex, and the like, simply because I feel like they work a bit harder to put the player in the role of the character...like...a role playing game ideally should. They tend to give you more freedom, more decisions, more customization, bigger worlds, and more bearing on the outcome of events depending on how you play...that kinda thing. Though I still love a lot of JRPGs too. Shin Megami Tensei always comes through with a quality game, Wild Arms and Xenogears are past love affairs, and if you're into that kinda thing, the Nippon Ichi games from Atlus are of course top notch.
hmm blackwatch - if that is what you are finding the you like, try out the Baldurs Gate series - that really its a masterwork of RPG gaming that puts you in the place of your charcter =

Bioshock, if you ever consider it as a RPG.
