Normally, I absolutely hate correcting people in languages, especially when they seem to be genuinely trying their best, since it makes me feel like a stuck-up know-it-all or some such, but since people are saying "please correct me if I'm wrong," here goes...

Niome: "e" can be used as "and" but "y" is used more often. "E" as and is generally used when the following word starts with an I sound. For example: "Me gusta leer e ir al cine" is correct, while "e hablo Inglés e Español" is incorrect. "Me llama es" is also incorrect. You can either say "Me llamo Niome" or "mi nombre es Niome."

Pengin-san: "Si, yo hablo Espanol... aunque, mi Espanol es mal" One would generally say "aunque mi Español es un poco malo" (my Spanish is a bit bad). You could say "aunque mi Español es malo" as someone else suggested, but it sounds a little off to the Spanish ear.

Jinglefox: "Me llama Jinglefox" is incorrect, although the rest of the sentance is fine. It should be "me llamo Jinglefox."

Kitsune: "Mucho gusto, jinglefox! ^.^ Me llama Kitsune~Girl, y soy de Estados de Unidos. Me gusta confitar, y escuchar la musica rock. Soy tambien muy loco XD Y ustedes? Como te llama y como estas?" It should be "soy de los Estados Unidos (abbreviated E.E.U.U. for some unknown reason)" Not sure what you mean by "confitar," but OK. Also, if you're female (and I know you are), you use feminine adjectives, so it would be "También soy muy loca." Also, since you used "ustedes" before, then you are speaking to numerous people, so your next sentance should be "Como se llaman" in plural form.

Jinglefox (again): "Hola Kitsune~Girl! Yo soy muy bien. Me gusta soy estadounidense!" What you said here roughly translates as "Hi Kitsune! I are very good. I like am American!" This should be "Yo estoy muy bién. Soy Estadounidense." (I'm not sure what exactly you are liking when you say "me gusta" so I left that part out)

Pengin (again): "Mi nombre es Pengin-san =D! Me gusta actuar, ver la anime, leer la manga, y usar la computadora. Yo soy muy perezosa y ordenado. Yo soy California y yo vivo en California tambien. Yo tengo dos gatos, ellos nombres estan Loki y Karma. Me gusta mi gatos muchos X3! Me gusta escuchar musica de J-rock y rock. Como estan Anime Forum?" Most of this is actually pretty good... but I will fix it for you: "Me gusta actuar, ver anime, leer manga (...) Yo soy muy perezosa y ordenada (if you are female... I am not quite sure of your gender, sorry. If you're male, it would be "soy muy peresozo y ordenado." You mixed up gender usage here). Yo soy de California, y también vivo en California. Tengo dos gatos, y sus nombres son Loki y Karma (P.S. I love the names of your cats ). Me gustan mucho mis gatos (can also say "Yo amo mucho a mis gatos," which means "I love my cats very much."). Me gusta escuchar la música Jrock y rock. ¿Cómo están, la gente de Anime Forum?"

I'd give Masali a correction as well, but he'd probably kill me for not giving him cereal first. :P

Like I said, I hate correcting people... but in reality you guys did very well! Congrats! I'd write some stuff about me in Spanish, but in reality I hate speaking Spanish and only do so out of necessity, like when I am speaking to my mother or the maid, neither of whom speak much English.

Mi amigo dice que uno debe de estudiar un lenguaje por lo menos 18 años para ser fluente, pero él dice que no es lo mismo para la gente que crece hablando una idioma. Mi mamá es Peruana, aunque mi padre es gringo (Americano), entonces hablo los dos idiomas casi iguales.

Since the moderators on this website speak English primarily, than it doesn't make sense for a Japanese section of the forum for Japanese-speakers right?

I don't want to this as an argument but neither do I see the fact that there, could be, a lack of Spanish anime or spanish fansubs their shouldn't be a Spanish section for the forum like there is Japanese.

We have Photography, Poetry, Roleplaying, Signatures and Avatars, and everything in General Talk including this forum Miscellaneous which isn't about Anime.

Y'all have to agree, we proven that many of us here enjoy writing in Spanish and proven that there is many of us here that do, plus I bet 1-2 administrators here know Spanish and if they don't, why not make someone like Dragon Nataku and Penguin as supervisors?

Translation is as follows, for the sake of the mods and those who don't speak Spanish:

"I grew up speaking Spanish. Formally? I have been studying Spanish in school for about seven years, and I also took some classes in an Argentinian school while I was living here in the States when I was a small child. My friend says that one must study a language for at least 18 years to be fluent, but he says that it's not the same for people who grew up speaking a language. To Niome: While I wouldn't mind translating everything that is said for anyone that might need a translation (especially for any mods or admins) if a Spanish section was made, I have absolutely no desires to be a mod. I have no ambitions to power. I am quite happy being a regular member. (plus, I just don't have the time to do the moderating gig. I'm only on here maybe two hours a day, and moderating takes up more time than that (I've done it on other boards less active than this and had to quit due to no time))

To the others practising their Spanish: If you ever need help with Spanish homework or something, drop me a line and I'll give you a hand.

If I hadn't changed schools Spanish would be like breathing, since we were required to take it from first to eighth grade, but now I take French. I remember bits and peices now and again, but I'm not fluent.

I think you mean amorosa? Not sure... :P In second sentance, you would use "malos" the plural form, as clases is plural. Then, "yo me enseño a mi misma la mayoría del tiempo." Don't worry about it though, as I said you are very good at it for someone who has only studied a language for three years. You should see my French... c'est vraiment horrible. ^x__x^;; Also, I was taught what apparently was some form of bastardized French (am I allowed to say that word here? ^x__x^;; ). Mum seems to recall that my French teacher was from Haiti, and they speak Creole there, which is a messed-up form of French, so I have learned many wrong things because of her. ^>__<^! Re-learning everything kinda sets me far back on my path to fluency. My Japanese is even worse, though, even though I have been studying it for a couple of years. I can't carry on any semblance of a conversation in Japanese. warui desu ne... So, compared to my French and Japanese skills, you are practically fluent in Spanish!


Jose: I am pretty sure she said she has studied for three years, not one. Also, I am also pretty sure that she asked to be corrected if she said something wrong. I know I, for one, would welcome any corrections to anything I say wrong in any language I was trying to learn, but I suppose that is because I am trying to become fluent in any language I start to learn. Maybe it is not the same for others, but if they ask for corrections, I will gladly give them for the sake of learning.

Niome, I understand what you're trying to say, but you're not really looking at the big picture. This thread probably won't be closed, but an entire board dedicated to a language with no real connection to anime just doesn't make sense for an anime forum.

Sigs and Avatars are part of the site's setup, RP and Video Games are pretty closely related to anime, poetry is part of the fanfiction board, and I'm sure if you made a thread discussing a Spanish sub/dub in the appropriate board it should be okay.

If it's okay if you start another language thread? I'm sure they wouldn't mind making the forum more diverse, but I doubt they would want to being that they'd also have to translate everything you say to make sure it's not breaking the rules.

Here's a better one. Use those skills of yours or your favourite search engine and go find a site dedicated to teaching and helping you practice your Spanish, such as it is.

I can see no reason for a forum dedicated to this. The best way to learn a language is to speak it every day...with people who can also speak it.

I am well aware of that Myrra, as with you're tenuous comment. I wanted the forum created so it could bring all Animeforum members who could speak Spanish together was my greatest priority.

I see what you both are saying Dorian and Sanosuke, though when I saw the Japanese forum and it's description is Converse with others in Japanese I'd assume it to be broad as with the threads I noticed in their.

When you say "Me llama es" you don't necessarily need the "es" and isn't it just "llamo" since that word doesn't follow the feminino y masculino rule?

It's expanding. Apparently the United States is the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world now, when last I checked we speak English here. Every area Spain colonized in South and Central America and the Carribean speaks some version of it, and of course there's Spain itself.

^ On that note, the last names García and Rodriguez have made it into the top ten most common last names in the US. Then again, they could be stupid hispanics that can't speak a word of Spanish, but who knows, really. The point is, the US is being invaded by Spanish-speakers. And by chickens. (Random fact: there are more chickens in the world than people)
