Sonic or Mario?

Hello everyone, it's Digimon's # 12th fan again! This time I want to know who you think is better: Sonic the Hedgehog or Mario? Happy debateing!

I'd say both. Mario is my first fav game (so I respect it for that *bends* XD) and Sonic is my currently fav. ^_^

As a Sega fan to the heart, Sonic. I no longer have the gripe I had against the plumber during the 16-bit generation, but Sonic is still my fave.

One thing sonic has over mario is the fact that instead of dieing as soon as something even touches you, you instead loose your rings that you're able to collect back, I thought that was way better.

But, I think I like Mario more, the games progressed better than the Sonic ones did, imo. Also, the characters (including the badies) were more endearing. I think I also just like how the games play more too, but I still loves me some sonic.

Depends...As a game series?
The were about equal untill the 3D generation started. Sonic started to go downhill from there, and even if Mario had a few "Okay" spin off titles, his big name titles remained awsome (64, Sunshine, Some of the early Mario Parties, Mario Kart, and now Galaxy)
Sonic hasn't had a good game since Sonic Adventure 1.

But in a straight up fight...Sonic.
Sonic goes Super Sayian, Mario loses.

I agree with Deadpool on Mario outclassing Sonic when both titles moved to 3D. I guess because Sonic plays much better when he's trapped in 2 dimensions because then you could just keep on spinning to the end of the level (usually).

In a fight though, I'd go with Mario. If he had every power up from every game he's ever starred in he'd be unbeatable.

Most definitely sonic. It was the first video game that I remember playing and have loved it ever since. I still play it for the nostalgia.

Mario is over-rated. I mean it's okay but not as great as everyone touts.

Sonic forever! Sonic owns Mario in every way. And Mario is the reason Nintendo fans think they own the console wars. Sonic, please make an awesome comeback. Everyone's waiting for you. Come on and show everyone what you're capable of!

I grew up 1st on mario on NES and then both in the super nintendo/genesis era. I would have to say Mario as the games gained more depth conceptually as time went on

Sonic was one of the first games I ever played when I was little (don't know which game... but it was for one of those sega-consoles at least) and I remember how much I loved it. Sonic will just always beat Mario to me, although I enjoyed a few Mario games too.

it all depends on the game, if yo have mario from galixy and sonic from... well sonic will always win unless anyone can find a sonic game without supersonic and only jump, dont say brawl

Any game that revolves around a BLUE hedgehog (I would have never thought to make a game about a hedgehog...it would have been like, a cat or something obvious) has got to be good.

I like Sonic but I'm going to have to go with Mario since I've played his games longer

Mario. The first Sonic games were fun, but the Mario games were always better IMO. Once Sonic went 3D, everything went from fun to disasterous (Sonic Heros, Sonic Next Gen, Shadow the Hedgehog), while Mario kept the same fun quality while having several spin-offs (Mario Sports, Mario Party) that still managed to be fun. Also, Paper Mario and Mario and Luigi are great RPG's, one of my favorites next to Golden Sun (call me old fashion) and the Tales series. I don't see Sonic with an awsome RPG <_< (one IS in developement that might be good...)

I really want to like Sonic more, but his new games are gettin worse and worse and Super Mario Galaxy is an incredible game, I really have to say Sonic isn't fun anymore -_-. I'm going with Mario.
