Ok, ok, ok. I always ask my friends this all the time. "Do you like older video games or newer ones?" I personally love old ones. So tell me. Old school or modern?

On this day of days, most epic and prideful, you were born 15 whole American years ago!

Probably via hax.
Regardless! You won!
So remember, whenever someone picks on you or calls you weak or small.
Just remind them that you beat out a few hundred thousand other wimps.
And the grand prize was not dying!
Ha! Both!
Old school because so many had brilliant gameplay and story lines - they were games made for gaming. (Baldurs Gate series, Starcraft, Red Alter - got to love that ingame music)
New school because I still like pretty pictures, and there are some really good gems coming out of the mold (Starcraft 2 anyone, FF anything)

Pacman all the way Mario 64 i love old games much more fun =D
Dude, Pacman is awesome. If I were to pick my favorite old school game, it would be Galaga. I love that game so much. I MAKE my parents give me money to play it at the arcade. -and I'm not too bad at it- I also recently found Pong addictive. -Yes, Pong-

I looooove oldschool games
(except i cant play any NES games, because the console broke 5 years ago)
I play SNES, Sega, N64 (Considered oldschool yet?) and PlayStation
I like new games too.. I enjoy the graphics a lot and some of the gameplay
Wii, PS2 and Xbox360 are lots of fun (I have yet to try the PS3 ;[)
"Feeling someone else's pain or anger -- even their joy -- is confusing and exhausting"- Kino no Tabi"It takes two to speak the truth, one to speak and another to listen"- Theareau
well i love alot of the old games like the original mario and zelda, also i love a snes game called Actraiser, but of course i like the new games too, halo 3 of course, right now im playing Samurai Warriors 2: Empires (PS2), and thats fairly new
Depends on the game, dude. I happily still play some of my old games for the Sega Genesis/MD/MDII via emulator on my PC, like Sonic III, NBA Hang-Time, etc. Heck I even play some of my old games for the Super Famicom/NES. Especially Jewel Tetris man. That game is legendary epic. Oh and the original Tetris is fun too.
I also play some PSX games occasionally (via emulator on my PC; I have the game CDs and I didn't pirate them or anything). I'm a sucker for nostalgia.
But I'm also into new games because I like to see what sort of gimmicks new games will come up with to keep us hooked. New games like Dynasty Warriors, and Battlefield 2, not even counting MMORPGs, are pretty addictive.
So like I said, it depends on the games. I'm not biased towards either old or new, but it has to be a good game.
For me, old school games only served to bridge the gap up to modern games.
Sure, Sonic and Tetris were fun back in the day but compared to modern standards, don't hold a candle.
I'm all about the new games. Even the current roster of modern games are just a tie-over until even better ones come out.
Story-wise, I prefer old school. Graphic-wise, of course I like modern games.
Both actually, with the Xbox 360 Arcade Edition.

Old School of course. That's when video games were video games. Todays games both suck and rule. Old school games have SO MUCH replay value unlike todays unfortunately.

This wasn't a video game, but I used to have an awesome board game with all the wrestlers in it. WCW against WWF.
GOOD FUN
Yeah I have the actual games too, but my console is broken by now.yea basically wat he said, lol i used to play NBA Hang-Time, i have the actual game though, along with comic zone and Landstalker
So true. Before it was all about being an awesome game that you can play again and again. Today, many games are all about being the prettiest so it can be sold fast.Old school games have SO MUCH replay value unlike todays unfortunately.
But I'm glad the Nintendo Wii is kinda changing that. They're going back to the oldschool style of gaming, where it's all about having fun. The kind of fun you don't easily get tired of, either.

In case any of you want to correct, question, comment on, or suggest anything to me regarding my translations or use of Japanese, please do. My sources of learning have all been listening to people and kinda forcing my brain to interpret, rather than actually translate like a dictionary. I understand I'll make many mistakes (I'd be surprised if I translate something mistake-free) but you have to understand that I'm doing my best.
I like to kick it old school, especially for rpgs. So many rpgs back then were timeless gems with great gameplay and wonderful story lines. One of my personal favorites is the quirky Earthbound, I still have the strategy guide for it.
However, I still love the new games for their gorgeous graphics and new innovative gameplay. Unfortunately, most of the new games don't make it past average, although the few titles that do give me hope for the future of gaming.

Lets just compare the genres from old to new.
FFVI or FFXII? VI, duh.
Old School RPGs are better.
Goldeneye(64) or Halo? Goldeneye.
Even a 64 FPS is better than Halo.
Street Fighter II or Soul Calbur III?
SFII, 2D > 3D
Castlevania: Symphony or the Night or Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness?
Symphony, hands down.
BUT...
Madden 94 or Madden 08?
08. Obviously, new sports games are the only genre that will be better than old school.
Oh yeah, and Tetris rules them all. Go old school.
All I need is hand grenades.

I have a PS2, and ONE game for it. Other than that, i stay with the classics, SNES, Sega, ect
It's always nice to go back to the games you grew up with, but overall I'd say I like new ones better, though I don't think there should be a reason why you have to pick one or the other. Some genres have really been improved over time, while others it seems kind of got neglected or just aren't as good as they use to be. *shrugs*
LAWLEven a 64 FPS is better than Halo.

Old school games. I love RPGs and I always end up going back to playing FFVII, FF Tactics, Chrono Cross, Saga Frontier, or Valkyrie Profile. It's fun to replay these games again. It could be for the nostalgia...or something.

The more the merrier!
The only new games I have are PC filght smuators. Most of the new games rely heavily on graphics and lack actual fun.
The NES is my primary console.
Need I say more?
OLd school all the way...i still hook up my NES and play pinball, mario, contra, and double dragon cause those games brings back memories for me
Are you Experienced?
Old School obviously the era of true video games. Sadly, games today are "graphics lolz! graphics lolz! GRAFIXS LOLZ!!!!!" what happened to simple game play that didnt need realistic graphics to make it sell?
I keep it old school. Dreamcast #1, baby!!!

Seriously, stop whining about graphics, it's almost 2008, we have better hardware and capabilities then we did before so heaven forbid a visual aspect of a game actually improve.
Another thing, if you think of the gameplay that went along with most of those 16-bit or whatever the hell games, it's very simplistic, and yeah they still prove to be fun and they'll always be classics, but sometimes that gets old ya know?
