I think that they're all good, in general. I have nothing against English dubs-- these people tried their hardest and it's worth it to give them a try. Plus it means I don't have to stare at the screen constantly. ^^; I hate having to stare at a screen for a large amount of time. With dubs, I can look away for a second and still hear what they say.
My favorite English dubs are the Fruits Basket and Naruto ones. (YES, I LIKE NARUTO DUBS, SO SHOOT ME!)
It depends greatly on not only the quality of the actors, but also the script that they are given.
Further it also depends no how well the subtitles are written, for example, the dubbing in Ghost in the Shell Inoccence is far better than the subtitles, which make no sense. Other productions, such as Hero (the movie) lose aspects in the dubbing which are picked up in the subtitles.

And you know what I hate even more? People who think they're an otaku if they hate English dubs. It's just silly. You know, there are some pretty crappy Japanese dubs too, and there some awesome English dubs. I can give examples, the dub for Fullmetal Alchemist and BECK was amazing. However, the Japanese dub for SuperGALS!, in my opinion, was terrible. You should really watch more anime in both languages before to a conclusion like that.
This also doesn't belong here.

It really varies. THere are some excellent dubs, such as ROD the TV and crappy ones, too. Robotech springs to mind *lol*

If you complain about the dubs in nearly anything produced in the last, say, 5 years you are crazy. Now if you mean the dubs for Speed Racer or something, sure.
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

The One Piece dub: an example of crap. The voices only somewhat suit the characters, and in one certain episode, 4Kids had minced the plot. Sure, they have to tone it down for the children who are going to watch, but...Well, here's an example that was noticed by YouTube-user Tsukento:
And now, here's the original, also provided by Tsukento:
Now, for Naruto, as annoying as "Believe it!" can get, Viz has done a wonderful job with the dubbing, and the voice actors have been grade-A.
So, when you're comparing dubs, it's the company you're to be angry at, not the anime itself, I believe.
I think it depends on what the person who'watching the anime thinks what kind of voice the character should have.
I like my anime subbed though.
Derp.
Who cares, i rather listen to english voices instead of a fast talking jib jabering person that i can't understand and read sub-titles. I DON"T WANT TO READ! i just want to relax and listen.
I don't like English dub, but the Russian dub is more, more terrible. Asuka from EVA and Lisa Simpson has the SAME VOICES in Russian versions! Graaaaaar! That's's TERRIBLE!
And in the first season of Slayers they changed voices for actors in 13th or 16th episode!
Khm... But the English dub for Hentai... >.< They makes "Ahhhhhhhhh!" and "Ooooooooh!" in that silly manners... I want to ask them to don't make that terrible noise. Really.
The plus of the most of Russian dubs is overvoice. I mean, the one voice for all characters and you can hear the original voices.
And something else about English dub - it was rather good in old anime, like Unico. And really wonderful in Cobra movie.
Polish dub is rather good, I think... And they has overvoice too.
But of course I prefer to watch anime with English or Russian subs.

I thought the pokemon movies were pretty well dubbed. Other than those, I don't really watch any other dubbed anime because a) You have to buy those and b) I'm a poor college kid who can't afford it. Oh, and before I left Asia, the recent dubs from Animax were pretty decent. They've come a long way from their first ones which were just plain horrible to listen to.
I hate dubbed anime; there is only ONE exception; Gundam Wing. For that anime, I was okay with the English version.

I'll listen to whatever pleases my ears.
Horribly dubbed anime (as in; voices dont sound like the character(s) at all, or the dialogue is stupid)? no thanks
Anime with really annoying, high-pitched, squeaky voices? no thanks
whatever sounds good, im fine with

Well, some anime have good dubings, some have great dubings, and others have terrible dubings. But for the most part, there ok, and it is a lot easier to just listen then to have to read.
Sig no longer in development...
I tend to prefer whichever one I watch first, whether it be a dubbed or subbed version. It really isn't fair to many dubs that have obviously been well thought out, and yet criticized because it "doesn't sound like the original!". Boohoo. Stop beating on the dubs for bringing an anime to a wider audience.
Then there are the dubs that are obviously bad. Well, I won't go into that.
Reading subs has become almost second nature to me, so I don't mind either way, but I do agree that having it in English is easier to watch.

I thought the Cowboy Bebop dub was fantastic, much better than the original.

Oh yeah, the Cowboy Bebop dub on HBO was pretty cool too. Thanks Masali for reminding me about that.
Watch Dragonball Z and tell me you think the japanese voices are better, why do all the guys sound like they have used female voices?
████████████
This is because they do. They had one woman do both Gohan and Goku, and she didn't try to sound manly either.
I personally believe that the Funi Dragonball Z made the japanese version look like crap. It had more appropriate music, more realistic sound effects, better voice actors, and it served it's purpose.
