Meeting Online People

Have you ever...

Met someone on the internet and then met them in person? Was it as awkward as you had expected it? Get along great? Totally regret it? If you're still living with your parents, how did they react?

If you haven't, who would you want to meet?

I met my friend from the internet. We got along great. It wasn't really awkward for me, because I'm a really open person. My parents were really skeptical at first until we actually got there and met up. (As good parents would've been).

Never met up with anyone from the internet. My rents really wouldn't react well to the suggestion, let alone actually doing it. They'd totally flip out. But I wouldn't mind one day meeting a friend from another forum. We get on real well online and somehow always end up getting into really deep discussions. We talk online for hours, so I can't imagine it being too awkward in person.

Yes I met a friend of mine on the internet and then in person. My parents were a little iffy about it too.

I also met another person on the net who actually lives a street away from me. Freaky huh?

Hm well I met someone from the net accidentally... We were talking about anime with one of the guys that works at the bookshop and he said something that someone had said in chat the night before. So I told him that someone had said the exact same thing and he asked if it was person with (insert username here) and I confirmend and he said that was him! lol

I talked to my roommate online before meeting him in person since my school uses a roommate locator database to help match people up to find housing since my school doesn't have a dorm. The first time I met him in person was when I went to the airport to pick him up and take him to our apartment.

Before that we talked online and played some online games together and decided we didn't mind each other and we've been roommates for 2 years now... and will probably be roommates for another 2 years till the end of college, we're kinda like brothers now we've been living together for so long.

i met someone from here.
we were dating.
we had talked on the phone a lot previously (duh) so my parents were pretty warmed up to him.
he stayed at my sister's house the first night, and the rest of the time that he was here he was allowed to stay on my couch.
except after the second night, he slept in my room.

he visited another time and stayed in my room for most of the time.

um, it wasn't that scary or anything, considering i knew him quite well.

i've never met a person over the internet in real life except the ones i already know (demon_girl_, Ari_86)
but i'd like to meet one of my friends over the internet in real life. any one of them. they all seem nice.

meh id try it, though some of these people im friends with are like half ways cross the friggen world so its a ghost of a chance, but id do it

Yeah, I have that problem. Lucky the only person I really would consider meeting with ain't TOO far away. Still, it's potentially problematic.

ha indeed, and the things there would be cheaper...well usually cheaper than us money so it wouldnt cost so much to travel and food and rent, and go partien with the people you came to visit, thatll be the life

I met my boyfriend on the internet. We've since migrated to the phone, and I'm currently saving up for a plane ticket and hotel expenses to go see him next summer for 2 weeks.

Sigh.. Money talks.

Or if I can just get my sisters husband to fly me there. He's a pilot.. Maybe he'd take me free.

Considering I have like, 5 other online friends who live in that same state, I'll just go visit them too while I'm at it.

Sadly it's on the other side of the country. e.e

nope...i havent met anyone personally yet, but i really wouldnt mind and id really enjoy it if we got along perfectly...lols...i met a friend online who's from the same country as i am but u can only go there by plane or boat...its sad...id really like to meet her... ^^v

note: im a girl...lols... XD

I met a few people, however they went to my school and/or where in band.

I'm not sure if that counts, as I would have met them anyways. We got much closer over the internet, though. I tend to be a lot less reserved online.

I doubt I'll ever go farther then that. I'm extremely paranoid and don't trust anybody. Why would I trust anybody from far away on the internet?

I've met someone... we get along well... my parents told me "do what you want...you are old enough"
I want to meet a few persons, but they are to far away... But someday I'll be able to see them...^^x

There's a lot of persons i want to meet [ive wrote that in another thread].
If there's someone who wants to meet me.. Uhmm.. I dunno. o___o?

Yeah, met a coupla people IRL that I met on the internet first.

One of them turned into my girlfriend for a while (we lived in the same town and eventurally ended up at the same HS).

It's not bad, but yeah I'm always kinda nervous when meeting people face to face for the first time.

Would do it again, tho!

Yep, my Freshman year, though it wasn't too awkward. Since we had been talking and swapping pictures for months before that, my parents knew her rather well, so there were no problems there. We stopped e-dating about a month later, and as far as I remember, I completely stopped after that. This guy who used to be my best friend, though, absolutely can't date anyone he's never met online and talked to long-distance for months and months, though his relationships never last long enough for him to meet that person.

The only girl he met in person first cheated on him...he's a boring, boring guy.
