It consumes Me [FF3 WIP] *Warning*

NO, not Final Fantasty 3, Fatal Frame 3. As you can see, its still in progress. Im surrently working on Reika's [blue girl] snake tattoo and will then move on to Rei's snake tattoo.

The title refers to the tattoo consuming them [if youve played the game, you know the curse Im talking about] and the fact that the wall has been very time consuming and is consuming my soul @___@. So far, 26 layers and 15 hours have gone into this wall. But I digress...

Im posting this now because I have absolutly no idea what to do as a bg. If you go here you can find out more about FF3 and the feel it has for those of you who would like to help but know nothing about the game.

Texture the hell out of the background/scans themselves, maybe you'll think of something less abstract while doing it.
That or a deep pool of water.

maybe you culd put the guy in the middle if u hve his pic?sorry for that one, i just read the link u gave.^^' or maybe you could mirror the image so the left girl goes to the right and vice versa. fade it a bit and add a bit of texture?i only have a hazy idea of how that'tl look like tho..hope that helps.^^

Ok, I took Muzzy's advice and added some dark water [since its not a 'bright' kinda game] and finished the tattoo/bruise on both girls. God, that took forever.

Anyway, Im not sure if Im happy with it, so Im posting it again to see what everyones opinions/suggestions are.

Define "better". And the blur is there for a reason. Water isnt excatly 'crisp'.

And you may be looking at a compresed image. Click it a second time, because my version is 'smooth'.

Um, water isn't blurry and it tends to be more reflective. The images just look chopy, not alot but it's noticable. And if they're in water, then add some effects around the characters that shows that they're floating. Like, water lines or something.

The girls looks awesome btw. :3 Though, I'm sorry to say my sigmaking was crap when I was doing it, and I didn't dare attempt any walls, so my suggestions are like....annoying little flies.

I think the water would be better scrapped, I don't think it really works. Maybe there could be creepy eyes and a mostly black bg that is fixed up with some textures. I don't know! I've never played the game!

When I saw the picture I could tell immediatly it was water, the "blurryness" to me looks like reflective ripples.

I don't know anything about this stuff, but is there a way to make it look glossy or more shinny? I think that would help, (if its possible to even do that)

Let me comment on the vector first.
Nicely done for the vector scan. Love how you did the colour for the right of the vector.
But I would clean abit more of the left vector. I see blue lines coming out of the black outlines. And also the teeth, like embossed out.
You should try to clean that.

And now comes to the bg.
Sigh...I'm disappointed...I thought you'd do a better bg than this...
Let's see now...why not try vector bg? Since you've vectored the scan, it's possible that vector bg would do good.
I don't really have an idea on how to give you an example bg, cus the vector scans are actually on the side, leaving the middle empty. That leaves me no clue.
But, I can say this...do not use filter. Unless you want your bg to look like this...

I hope I'm not too harsh. It's just that, it's hard to make a wallpaper for this.

Something mystical, that would definitely be the way to go for basically any FF, but for FF 3, it would be better if it was a good mystical, instead of like an angry war like one which would work for FF 8. I like the idea mentioned for a pool of water, but have it have different light, and maybe something being seen beneath the water, as well as a light beam or something.

Well, that’s just an idea, take what you like, or discard it all.

Ive never done water before, so Im kinda a novice when it came to the bg. HOWEVER, Im scrapping the idea and deicded to go with a floral/abstract background inspired by another FF3 scan.

And Trustworthy, there is no Fatal Frame 8. Its obvious that you didnt read my first post on how I wasnt talking about Final Fantasy.

Try to use filters less, draw water using vector shapes & PS brushes. Also, everything that is under water should look distorted a little.

Scrapped the water, went with floral [kinda like the loading/save svreen]

Though, Im still taking c-n-c as to how I can improve it

Also, I tried cleaning up some of the color that went outside the line work, so I hope thats done too [it was hard to find, what with haveing 122 layers]

Simple but much better than before. If you have no more better ideas on the backgrond, just adjust colours of the vectors and make them darker and contrastier, it'll make them blend in quite a bit better.

Nice and cool bg you did. Instead of water, you've changed it to floral bg, though preserving the colour. And yes, I like this one better than the previous. XD

But about blending the bg with the scan...I've no idea how to do that. The contrast for this is, the left is blue, the bg is also blue. Leaving the right that's light colour, which gives me the impression of unbalance colour.

Seriously, my mind went hanging...I dunno how to give you some ideas on the scan... >_< [gomen... >_< ]

what if you did something where the two images merge, making it to be one person but two sides to her............ the one half is light and the other half is dark. I do think that the working out of a more suitable bg would be easier if you could centralise the wall in that manner

I like it a lot, overall. I think having the blue one on the left is good, as most people us PC and have their icons aligned to the left. She will get lost that way, but it is much better than having the distracting lighter character on the left. I think it's great Maru!

@Aesthetic: That won't work. Merging the two vectors together means destroying the wall entirely. Thus, adding both vectors on the sides while the merge remains, it'll be a disaster. It wouldn't be call a wallpaper by then.

@Capernicus: A good suggestion. But we're talking about wallpaper here.

Some people mattered about how to fit in the desktop with the left blank and concentrates on the right. While some, matters how beautiful the wallpapers are, thus making it without bothering how does it looks like on the desktop (sometimes they do).

I'm not saying it's wrong to make the left transparent while focusing the right to fit in the desktop. But, it's how wallpapers matters, to be beautiful.
