I just clear my mind...sort of self hypnosis kind of thing. it takes time when you suffer from insomnia.

lol um i guess, the stupest way ive tryed when i couldent sleep was go for a walk... worked but the problem was that i was a mile away from my house when i was tired.

Hm...that's been happening to me a lot lately. I usually just stay online, read, or play DS or PSP until I get tired.

Half the time I try to go to sleep when I'm not tired because I know I have to get up. The holidays made me nocturnal I tell you! Anyway, usually when I'm going to sleep I just imagine something random like tree climbing. If that fails then I try shifting everything on my bed to the other end (If it's warm). If that doesn't work or I can't be bothered then I try brainstorming ideas for stories (not necessarily mine). I come up with some good stuff at one in the morning (never for mine).

Perfect question for me since it's now almost 2 in the morning and I'm not sleepy...

Well, a lot of times I sign on to the internet..the flashing lights and whatnot make me tired. If I can't do that, I'll turn on the t.v., turn it all the way down because I CANNOT sleep with noise (or the door open), turn over, and let the flashing lights lull me to sleep.

Sometimes I just read.

Hn. I'm just noticing flashing lights make me sleepy...

For me i have three options

1. drink a monster and for some reason those put me to sleep on the dot. duno y?

2. go talk to my boxing coach and he will fix that.

3. bang my head on a wall and get a cunccusion... ill be out for a couple of weeks

I suffer from insomnia and if you can't sleep well or cannot go to sleep, period, then it probably means you have it too. Usually, I'd just stay up as late as I can on the internet or watching movies. Until I pass out from fatigue and exhaustion. It's not a very good idea, but I say ask your doctor about prescriptions and medication that'll help you sleep.

I'll typically just lay in bed and stare at the ceiling, or, occasionally, get out my laptop and occupy myself with this site, or various other forums I occasionally stop into.

I'm a deep sleeper, and I fall asleep easily, so it's not something I have to worry about a lot.

Some solutions,to help you sleep, may not apply to everyone, might cause minor headaches.:

- Get me to give you a lecture about how to correctly spend your money or how often you should study.

- Try reading a book in a language you can't understand, [may make people frustrated]

-count rice

-skim through the books of your least favourite subject.

- stare at the ceiling.

One time when I couldn't sleep I played Nintendo DS... XD It was good because it didn't wake everybody else... ^^ Listening to music is good too... With headphones... XD

try to listen to the radio....and sometimes you can listen to your favorite CD's....
but if sleep your problems are as bad as mine then you be up until 5:00am
listening to music!!!!

When you can't sleep, you should countdown from 10 slowly. It helps me when I can't sleep at night, perhaps, it will help you. ^_^

when its hard to sleep i usually roll over, grab my phone from the side and listen to the most chill out song i have. it works the same when you listen to a song that you have heard a lot, then you get bored half-way through and fall asleep

I have MAJOR trouble with sleep.... my doctor thinks I have narcolepsy and along with narcolepsy comes dyssomnia which is like insomnia.... so i'll stay awake until I absolutely crash (or I take melatonin).... then during the day especially during school, I'll fall asleep at random times and I can't fight it back.... so i guess, when i can't sleep i either take that wonderful magic pill lol, or i stay up watching tv or typing on the pc till i have no choice but to sleep =P

Well, considering i have insomnia, i never really do sleep unless im in a crashing state. Meaning my body is so tired that it forces itself to at least go into a trance like state, which is what happens to me.

So what i do to try and get this to happen is i play my PSP until i cant handle being awake any more.....it usually only works like once every two or three weeks though...

yeah, sometimes i'll fall asleep on my keyboard when i'm in a crashing state lol XD either that or i'll fall asleep in my chair w/o realizing it... most narcoleptics have other symptoms that come along with it.... I have hypnogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations... basically they're extremely vivid and mostly disturbing dreams/hallucinations that occur right as you're passing from awake to sleep or vice versa....
