In the literal sense, loving someone the moment you set eyes onto them is impossible, it would be more infatuation or lust than anything else.

Now, looking at it as an expression, then it is a bit plausable. It doesn't mean instant love as in marriage terms, but more like "the moment I met this person, i knew that I would like them"

Actually, I find it completely logical and rational for Eris not to believe in love. Just because everyone experiences the state of mind we collectively decided to call love and romanticize does not mean that it is in actuality, what we make it out to be.

I believe in love at first sight, Love is merely a word to define how you feel, the emotion Love itself can be put onto many different scales, some of which might be considered lust, lust is another form of love as well as attraction, infatuation, and desire. You can fall in love with anyone at any age, humans are meant to feel this emotion and the power to feel it is given to us at birth. some people let their higher life inexperiences get in the way of them thinking just b/c you are 13 that you cannot fall in love with someone when in reality you can, as you get older you tend to think more and more like others in that age group, if you step out of that boundaries and think more or less along the lines of human perspective you begin to understand just what love is, meeting someone for the first time, and thinking you have fallen in love with them is something that is real and should be taken into account, You may not know them for who they are or what they do for a living but you do get to feel their aura and the emotions they put out.

Most of you may not agree with what i have said but thats ok one day you will learn the truth of things and soon realize that sometimes you have to look at situations from a different angle or point of view.

Lust/desire and infatuation are not the same as love.
You can lust after someone without knowing who they are or what their interests are. I agree that you can lust after someone and love them at the same time, but you can lust after someone without loving them as well. So that does not make lust and love the same thing. And infatuation is a term used as a fixation on a person. You're transfixed on a particular person, most likely when you know very little about them. If you don't know anything about someone, how can you call that love?

It's not that you can't fall in love when you are 13, it's just that when you get older, you experience more and your MIND DEVELOPS. You get smarter. You see the real world. I'm sure there are people who have married their childhood sweethearts, but the majority have not.

I get what you're saying, and I somewhat agree. There is a certain something that connects you to a person, whether or not you know them or not. But that is still not love. That is attraction. That feeling alone cannot be justified as love. It can be the start of a love, by all means. These feelings are what we act upon, and what makes us think we could give it a shot to truly be in love. But it is not love in it's entirety.

That's what I thought in the beginning about love at first sight. I never believed in love to begin with. But something happened to me six months ago which made me change my mind about this matter.
I was on my way home and this guy saw me walking in the hallway. He kept staring at me and stopped me to have a convo with him. We talked and such. Since that day, he was after me till now. Everyday his love keeps growing for me and eventually turned into obsession. And FYI, I'm not a good looking at all which makes it weird. o_o;

My feelings about said guy aside..that, in my view, is/was not love at first sight. I don't think he ever was in love with you - he saw someone he wanted and went after them, in an obsessed and annoying manner. Which is pathetic, to say the least. Him simply seeing you and wanting you, as you strolled down the hallway, doesn't qualify as love...again, in my view - I'd venture to say that was more lust or desire. Whether you think you look good or not, he was interested. Maybe I'm just overly cynical about it all...but if you're falling for someone, simply because they look hot to you when you first lay eyes on them, that is not love at first sight. He had the desire to get to know you and he talked with you (as you let him do so) - doesn't mean he was ever in love or ever trying to do anything other than get in your pants (to be crude).

Anywho..

I don't believe in it. It's foolishness - a fantasy drempt up by idealistic clowns whom want to be with another person, seemingly every week, because of their looks only. How the hell do you fall in love with someone just by looks..when you first see them? That's stupid.

That's a rather sad attempt at sounding wise. You can make such claims for just about anything when you word it like that, be it Jesus, Santa Claus, or in this case, love. When you apply even the slightest hint of critical thinking, what you just said there has no legs or support whatsoever to stand on and couldn't hold the smallest drop of water.

I also find it amusing you claim others will realize the "truth of things" - exactly what makes your "truth" the truth? I'm curious to know. I'm also curious to know why you think that. Is it because so many others believe it, that it has become truth? If that's the case I don't even know why I'm listening to you. Perhaps Buddha imparted this sage knowledge to you?

To be honest-I dont believe in it...
It just cannot happen...
I mean,think about it-how much do you hear about love at first sight?
Still,that is something that cannot be called love,atleast I believe so...
Love cannot come out unless you get to know that other person good,and not just by seeing her/him...
Love at first sight is in most(or can I say all)cases just sexual attraction towards that other person you see...
Or it's just the case that you lke her/him...
When you're friend with someone,respecting and accepting her/him the way she/he is,sharing secrets and most importantly-having relationship with strong will,so that you can resist pleasures that some other girl/guy may offer to you,knowing that after that you could never watch the person you love in the eyes,etc.-that is what can be called love...
When words dont come even close to express how your heart feels about the person you love...

But once you get to know her/him better,you might realise that you two have nothing incommon,and you say-nah,I dont like him/er anymore...
So,can you call that a love?
