Its seems to me like it would hurt their feelings more if they felt like they were being dragged along and being lied to. Really, its not so much that your not hurting his feels is your saving yourself the pain of seeing his face when his feelings are hurt... and in so doing your making him feel more pain.

Leaving people hanging will make them question what they did wrong. That actually brings more emotional pain than actually telling them straight forward.

But to me just dating randomly seems iffy, I mean come'on, are we so simple that we jump on small feelings of attraction (You would think getting to know someone would be a better path then asking them out to find out that he or she isn't the one for you)? To not only hook up but break up with the one you said you loved? To say that anything you had told that person was a lie?

I've seen couples... all like "I love you."
And then when they break up... they lied.

Don't tell me about 'not loving anymore'. I could understand a Dr.Jeckal and Mr. Hide situation but seriously...

I know that dating to some is just about fun, flings for temporary internal security. But in the end how could one really tie the knot without their true feelings? Is your wife or husband to you as your previous Boyfriends or Girlfriends? I'm for the thought that love exists and that people should put more consideration into the actual emotion, and not just the pleasures that come with it.

Can't we as a race be more 'one' with our emotions, to be sure we can love another? But I guess I can't really display my whole opinion, It's complicated to think about relationships when your own seems so right, with little to worry about except instinctual emotional outbursts.

The best way to break up is to be honest and respectful about it. Don't just tell them "I'm breaking up with you" but tell them why as well...but don't try to comfort them...otherwise it makes it that much harder.

As for a unique way of doing it...lawn mow "let's break up" in their lawn...rent a helicopter and tell the pilot to fly over their house. Make sure it's at their house so that they actually have to finish mowing their lawn to get rid of the message. oh amber that's mean....(I must still be bitter due to the fact that I didn't get my Little Rainbows)

I've only ever had to break up with someone once, so I'm really no break-up professional, either. What happened, though, was really funny (especially when I related it back to someone who was 100% behind me).

I had a key to my ex's apartment, and I just let myself in. Luckily for me, the girl he'd slept with... eh, a week or so prior to that was there with him. I get very, very aggressive when I'm angry, so I just let him have it. I screamed at him, and let him know, in very creative language that can't be repeated on the forums, how weak he'd been and that he deserved the stupid floozy sitting on the couch. I said quite a bit more, also unrepeatable, but ended it by tossing the key at his feet, and saying that I never wanted to see him again, and that I'd rip more than his dignity from him if he ever tried to come back to me.

Which he did, after she cheated on him three months later.

Ha! That is funny! The creep had what was comming to him anyway! I hope though that when the girl cheated on him and he tried to come back that you did do more and to top it off strip off what ever dignity he had left. But what you said caught my attention cause one of the fanfics I'm writing has the same exact situation between Sasuke and Sakura (Naruto).

Anyway on to the question at hand. Well...just once and only once did I break up with someone. It was a couple of years ago. One of my close guy friends thought in his best intrest that it would be nice for him to hook me up with one of his friends. Even though I protested I finally gave in and desided to give his friend a chance. And for awhile things actually worked out well. Now the thing is that we never saw each other since we lived far away from each other. So we always spoke on the phone. Over time I grew to really liking him and I wanted to meet him (and my guy pal since I haven't seen him in awhile either).

So one day my sister and I went out to vist both of them. Now before I even went, he was telling me that he had something for me but he wouldn't say what...then my best friend was like 'Oh he got you a ring.' So of course I was super shocked. When we finally got there, and I finally saw this guy (who mind you I really liked and thought he was hot...cause he sounded hot) and did I ever recieve the biggest shock of my life...the guy...was sooooo ugly! Now I'm not vain...but on a scale of 1-10 I'd like for my guy to at least be a 9 or 10...I could even settle for an 8...even 7.5! And quite surprisingly...my best friend...was more cuter then him! (best friend...7.5...dude...2) But that was not even the reason why I broke up with him. It was because of the ring.

First off, it was a compleate fake...something that looked like he got from the 99 Cent store and u wanna know the worst of it? According to my friend, the guy failed to tell me that the ring had conncetion with some drug dealers and that it actually had some drugs inside the box...the very box that held the fake ring that he was going to give me! But luckly before I knew about it, I declined taking the ring and after that day refused to talk to hiim ever again.

Besides that one time....I was always the one on the other end...with the lame excuse being that they only looked at me as a friend and nothing more....when the creeps were treating me as more then a friend...ah! I hate when guys give you mix messages like that!
