Have Any Unusual Traditions?

well most people i know have traditions like going over to relatives houses to just eat dinner on christmas or maybe easter
but do any of u have any unusual traditions that u do?

me & my cousins and a few of our friends go voer the my grandparents house and just eat pie & play flashball, this game thats like hockey except u have to wack a tennis ball around to ppl and into the goal, and involves u not having the ball on the ground for no more then 5 seconds when u have it in your possession
its quite fun once u get used to all the hard coordination

I had an unusual tradition with the Marching band at my old school (Huzzah for the band nerds!). The entire drumline would not shave until the marching season was over, making them all have full beards by the end of the season.

Why? No particular reason.

That's similar to what our girls' varsity soccer team would do; once play offs were under way, none of us would shave our legs until we were eliminated (making it at least a month or so, because we usually made it to the finals).

Other than that, there really weren't any other traditions, except for the expected freshman hazing: carry the balls, carry the water, clean up after certain drills, etc. etc.

Almost every weekend me and some friends head up to Town. Once there, we hold a sign in the window that reads 'Wanna race ?'. About 70% of the people comply and we emerge the victors most of the time.
............Before I had my heart ripped out and spat on by an Impreza WRX STI this Friday. I didn't expect to have beaten that monster in the first place though.
Anyways we do this for about an hour before moving on to do other stuff. There's another sort of tradition we try to pull at least every month at a parking ramp, but I'll leave that one out for now.

Fruit Salad on all special occasions. It's pretty funny... no clue how it came about. Even when big boxing matches are on the television, my family makes fruit salad. Rofl. Tasty.

Old Lao New Year traditions, we -would- sprinkle water on each other for new years. That has evolved into shaving cream and super soakers and water balloons. It's plenty fun to smack you friends, enemies, and random people with shaving cream. In fact, this celebration is at the end of this week.

You can google "Lao New Year" and find out a bit. But you won't find much, if anything about how it is celebrated in other countries outside the Laos country itself.

in my family it's tradition that the youngest grandchild learns how to make oilballs with grandpa. I am not the youngest anymore so i am not surprised if i have to give the torch over to my youngest cousing beneath this or next year.

For a few years now, a friend of mine has given me a notebook at the beginning of each school year for me to draw cartoons, comics, pictures, anything I want in it. Then at the end of the year, I give it back to her and she saves it. So our Senior year or so, we'll be able to look back at all the pictures and things we thought were funny.

Every day I listen to music about doing that. If I don't get my daily fix of music, I lose all hope and practically fall to pieces.

The only thing that I can think of, is when its the holidays, we go over to someone house in our family, and make this huge feast for the whole family. Its very fun whenever we do that every year.

That's how it's traditionally done in most of Scandinavia, and some other parts in the world. Maybe your family has roots there?

Hmm.. The only tradition I could think of that might be considered wierd or different is our easter tradition.

You dye the eggs, set them in the basket of your choosing, the next morning the easter bunny hides the eggs around your house for you to find, and then fills up your basket with treats.

When there's a family meeting and what not, my mother and I always bake something. But I have my New Year tradition: every time something bad happens to me, I write it on a paper and save it, same with exams or papers with low grades and, after writing my New Year wish for my family (their tradition) I go to the backyard and burn all the bad experience and laugh like a maniac.

That always happens to me when my grandmother from my father's side sees me... I think it's her own tradition, to stuff her grandaughter until she cries.

Nope, nothing so unusual. I mean, I did go to relatives' houses during celebrations like Eid. But it's only normal and I don't find it unusual. Like visiting relatives during Christmas, but this time, we visit other people's houses too, even though we don't have any slightest clue who they are. And they will serve you food and give you money (if you're children though ).

Eating big bowls of ice instead of Popcorn! This started during the summer when the AC broke down in the cinema and has just become a normal thing. Better still, the drinks machines give out free ice so I don't need to buy food or a drink.

Being 1 of 2 people able to try everything at christmas lunch. I'm sure it comes to about 8-9 courses alltogether Not being able to move 3 hours later should be included.
