I think learning Albanian is the only way for you.
Well, guys, never mind. So what is your opinion about this discipline?

It looks like an interesting hobby, one I would like to try. However, before I do, I'm going to have to get my fitness up.

My thoughts can be summarized with "Stupid waste of time, and an easy way of breaking your neck."
Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
Doesn't sound like any great amount of knowledge that can't be learned through an active childhood, or one spent running away from a lot of people who didn't like you (I had an exceptional ability to anger people in my younger days).
Peace,

LOL! What? ... This, 'Parkour' is not even a word in the English dictionary, he must have pulled that one from a different language or something.
Haha, that was so not funny. Before you decide to make up something else completly idiotic just to spam up some posts, at least pick something that makes sence.
And please use proper sentence structure. We all however, do appreciate someone who:

No, the sport is French and named "Le Parkour." It might not be in the dictionary (it shouldn't be, the name is French and does not belong in an English dictionary), but it is in the encyclopedia.

I've been interested in Parkour for about a year now. I live in Alaska though, so there's not really any place to practice. You can run for miles here whithout encountering a single obstacle =(. (Can't wait to LEAVE!) I've been working out more though to get in the required physical shape, as well as taking gymnastics next year.
It's of some Russian people in Latvia just doing random Parkour stuff. I can't wait to learn how to do all that!
David Belle is the man! XD There are no visual effects or stunt people (for David Belle's parts anyway). Everything you see him do is for real.

Jumping over things instead of walking around things? No thanks. If I really need to get from point A to point B in the quickest time possible, I'll use Le Lance-Roquettes.
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

How could you forget? Don't you remember those priceless and fun filled hours sitting desks all day, having your imagination beaten down so you conform with everybody else while you are graded on educational systems that attempt to force squares through one circular hole to create a "productive member of society"?
How could you not remember such an active, fun filled childhood??
I prefer the term Free Running, for I may have some French heritage, but I am not French.
But, for the sake of the thread, and seeming lack of knowledge about it by most members, Parkour is actually really fun, and something I enjoy doing. Running, jumping, flipping over things. It isn't about getting from one point to another, just about having fun exercising in a unique, and somewhat extreme way.
I'm sure to people who loaf, or don't have any ambition to be physically active, it seems stupid. And that is all well. But anyone that does it can tell you, as I am, that it's invigorating and a damn good work out. It keeps all muscles in your body toned-- from top to bottom and your core (abs, for the non athletically inclined) looking good.
There isn't anything much better! Plus, it gets you a lot of attention and admiration when people see you running up and vaulting yourself over walls, and doing flips off of objects.
Yay, at least one person understands it then! It's great, my goal now is a stronger core, like you said, and to be able to do hand-stand pushups.
I didn't know they had a fancy word for running around and jumping over crap. Kids do that stuff all the time.

Aren't Free Running and Le Parkour different though? AFAIK, Le Parkour focuses on reach and escape, and Traceurs try to get from point A to point B in the most effective way they can think of. However, Free Running focuses more on the aesthetics of Le Parkour.
Please correct me if I am wrong though...

Yes, technically they are two different things. Like you said, Parkour focuses on effiency, point A to point B in the fastest time with the smallest exhertion of energy.
Free Running includes flips and such, and focuses more on having fun and looking cool. Not that Parkour can't be fun or look cool, but I think you get the idea.
And to Hatake Buruku, I suppose essentially that's what Parkour and Free Running are, albeit on a more extreme level. To professionals though, it's more complex than that.
Then again, life itself can be described as nothing more than your brain processing impulses of electricity. Anything can be simplified to the point of seeming insignificant, whether it is or not is another matter. I'm not trying to say you're wrong or stupid or anything, I just see Parkour as something more than that, but we all have our own opinions. Where would the fun be if we didn't?
