Swords or guns

Thats what reloading is for. Guns all the way. Its a lot quicker to pull a trigger than it is to swing a sword.

Once you see how Alucard uses guns in the anime and manga, it kinda makes swords seem like a second hand windows 95 to an xp.

Swords, because then you actually need skill to use it. Aiming isn't that hard, it's easily achieved. Swords are just all out cooler.

But if you want, you could be like crazy Final Fantasy people, where they have guns on their swords too.

Not that I would ever be in a situation to use either in a life or death situation...

But I would choose a gun, and a type of sword. Not a Katana or a medevil broadsword...Something more along the lines of a large knife, like a Machete. It's durable enought to take extensive damage, large enough to be effective in combat for those who aren't adept in CQC or combat with a smaller knife, yet it is also small and light enough to carry around without being much of a burdon.
On top of that, it also has it's uses as a tool. Where say, a Katana can only be used for battle, a Machete can be used to carve up an animal for nourishment on the battlefield, or perhaps cut away some pesky vines and such in a jungle habbitat.
However, to bring an actual Sword Sword into battle in these modern times would be...Stupid. Unless someone invented a real functioning lightsaber, I wouldn't go with swords. Stick with a Machete, Some form of Hatchet, or if the soilder or individual is skilled enough, a combat knife.

So if I must go to war, give me a Machete along with whatever the armys then or current standard issue rifle/sidearm combo is and i'm good.

That...makes...absolutely...no...sense...

The fact that most modern warfare used guns & similar weapons proves that if anything its the other way around. Swords may look cooler for anime characters but if I feel that my life may be in danger from another person or an animal...I'm picking the gun.
