Irony: Funny?

Do you find Irony to be funny or upsetting?

So, I was thinking about something I thought was funny earlier. It was Ironic, but kind of rough for AF so if you want to know what PM me.
Basically I stumbled across it this way,
I like Ironic things, but some of my friends don't laugh when I do.

Do you laugh when you think of these things:

1. The Moon being made of cheese?
2. God kills sinners AND non-sinners at the same rate.
3. Pigs that can fly?
4. A table with a lamp on it?
5. A table with a table on it?

I laughed at 2,3,4, and 5.

Please post according to the rules.

Well, I think the only ironic ones in your list is the first, and maybe the second one. The three last ones are at best just absurd.

And I really didn't laugh from reading any of them.

Well, I don't really think any of those were funny...but I do like irony when its done in a certain way.

You're not taking them far enough. It's just like... meh.

"Pigs that can fly" ... meh, needs developing.
"Pigs with jet packs" ... better.
"Army requisitioned assault-pigs with jet packs" ... mildly amusing.
"The government is covering up for army requisitioned assault-pigs with hypersonic jet packs" ... getting there.
"The government is covering up for army requisitioned assault-pigs with hypersonic jet packs by selling the charred remains of crashed pigs as roast ham." ... there, that's better.

Oh come on, Eris' was funnier than that. I have one, it is not funny though. A sign that says "do not read."

Most of the irony I've seen thus far has always been funny.

There is irony in one thing I read though.. It said "Warning: Do not turn upside down" and that warning was at the bottom of the container. Or... "Antique tables made daily"

Nope, I don't find them funny, sorry. You have to upgrade them, just like what Eris said. Irony can be funny, it depends. But I always find it upsetting if it deals about me...

Eris' post was the only thing I found at all amusing. I'm sure most of the things you listed, lpg, weren't even ironic :/ Well, I find some irony amusing. So long as it's not a total bummer...

Also; Anyone heard that song by Alanis Morrisette? How do you define irony, I'm sure most of the things she lists aren't ironic either...

I have something ironic that just happened to me last week. Last Wednesday, I had to make a trip to downtown Cleveland to pay our water bill, since our water was turned off. Day 2 without water. So I hopped in my car, drove downtown, and parked on the street. It started to rain a little bit on my way, but I didn't think anything of it. I was only in the utilities building for 10 minutes, tops. By the time I was finished, gaggles of idiots were pressed up against the glass doors, watching it hail and pour. I (almost) politely excused myself (a little rain never hurt anyone), and made my way back to the street, which was flooded.

Not only was the street flooded, but so was my entire car. Just filled with water. I shouldn't have brought money. I should've brought a bucket.

um, actually even though 2 and 3 seem to be the only ones with irony, 3 is subtle, i found 2, 3, and 5 funny, but then i find alot of things funny

for instance, if someone spends time around me when im in a good mood(thats the stranage part) they'll find i have a fairly dominant black sense of humor that i get a little too much mirth out of maybe(no), but i also will bust out randomly not being able to explain myself because i take situations farther in my head, if you didn't understand that then i made my point

but yes i enjoy irony alot

I didn't really sence irony in all of them. the 2nd one was like hmmmmm not funny. irony is like well i guess i will use family guy, stewies apartment building caught on fire by stress relieving candles.

I love irony too, however those didn't seem at all ironic and I didn't really laugh at any of them.

I do like irony. Since it brightens up the statements or phrase or whatever you call it. But sadly i didn't find it that funny. The ones in your sigs are much amusing.. ^__^
