As for my friends.....you have to be REALLY close for me to initiate a hug. But if you initiate it, you can get away with only being mildly close. I do not generally look for physical contact, only when I'm stressed or distressed or the like. Sometimes even I just need a hug. But if we are only acquaintances or friends sometimes, stay away from me. I won't respond the way you are probably hoping.

However, I am very huggy online. *gives everyone a big hug!*

If a friend who THOUGHT they were close to you initiated (or tryed to/thought of) initiating a hug and they were turned down rather quickly, (almost coldly) do they deserve to know just how close of a friend they really are to you, or is it pretty easy for you for that closeness to change at any given time.

If your "very huggy online", what would it take for a person to be exempt from this? Someone thats really offended you? Someone that you've lost all trust in?

However, to state something that's actually serious, you wouldn't walk up to a cuddly bear and give him a hug if he would maw your face off. You shouldn't randomly hug other people then. Personal space is needed by almost every mammal. Even among social beings, don't touch unless they want to be touched. And if they want to be touch, it should be easy to tell.

It all depends on who you are. If I hardly know you, don't know you, or don't like you in any way or fashion.... I might just freak out.. But with very close,VERY! close friends I am a very touchy feely person X3 (so far only one person has reached that level). And I'll let the family hug and poke me as much as they want.

I love to freak my friends out. They're all kind of homophobic about hugging, so just because I love to freak my friends out I'll hug them. They get freaked. Which is funny, because I don't see it as freaky since I'm secure with my sexuality as a heterosexual male I don't see me hugging another dude as being terribly weird. Hugging girls is AWESOME. Hmmm...well, my friend's and I often poke people's shoulders as a greeting of some sort...however, I don't like being touched by people I don't know very well. For example, when a teacher puts their hand on my shoulder, it gives me the chills.

Funny story...there's this jacket I have that makes me look like a sheep when I wear it. One time, I believe the first day that I wore it to school, my friends started stroking my arm as a joke. Then, when I was in the lunch line, I felt someone doing it again, and I expected it to be one of them, but when I turned around, it was a random person I didn't know. When it dawned on them that I was staring straight at them, they backed up and said, "It's soft..." O___o; as one could anticipate...I didn't like that very much...

My family dynamics are messed up. My mum's family are the touchy/feely sort and my dad's family are the sort to never express that sort of thing. I can be touchy/feely if
1. I know the person and the person knows me
2. If we've a relationship of some sort
3. I'm in one of "those" moods...you know, the clingy, needy sort.

But I'm quite aware of boundries and personal space. I will not go up and hug on someone randomly as I would not want some random person to come up and hug on me. With my friends I can be quite "huggy". Though one should beware the fact that on occasion I'm in such a mood as to not want anyone touching me, no matter who they are. When I'm like that and you decide to hug me, you'll likely wake up a week from Tuesday.

...yeah... I LOOOOOVVVEEE HUGS!! I am a VERY touchy-feely person, I guess you could say. I give ALL my friends hugs usually at least once a day whether they want it or not - I want a hug, it's happening! And they all love me too much to do really anything about it even if they didn't want one, which usually when they say they don't, they really do. I converted several of my more skeptical friends into huggers, too. I've hurt a few glomping them, even. I glomp and give hugs so much one of my friends, "Oreo", has started calling me "Glomp". He was all like "it sounds like some kind of fish.... glomp". Freakin' retard... I glomped him again just for that.... but the name remains...

anyway...so yeah.... if you're my friend... watch your back. A glomp will be coming to you, soon. And I will risk a bloody nose for it, too, Eris. O_O
