Am I the only one who thinks Pain's back story is really cliched? I mean he has some amazing power, his best friend is killed and he takes up his friend's dream. Come on, think of something new.

He didn't take up his friend's dream, he took up a corrupted version of it.
As for the latest chapter:
For that being a quick flashback fight, it was pretty intense. That seems to be the end of the whole Konoha vs. Pain thing for now. I want to see how all these events will unfold now, as things fall back into place.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."

Well, you can't help but feel pity for him. Now, he possibly couldn't be considered a true antagonist character. It's got to be Tobi after all.
Yeah, it was a pretty instense fight but I more ever wanted to know how Pain turned out in the state that he's right now or how he defeated that Amagakure head guy. I guess he wouldn't tell it that easily unless he becomes ally with Naruto or somone else like Konan tells Naruto about it later on. As for the dialogue, I think it's safe to say that it's now over.
Now, action please.

Didn't Pain destroy most of Konoha? How's that working for him?

... might be some words but his past was really quite sad. It was not that he really wanted to be bad from the start. The circumstance made him lose his sanity. Not the typical kind of antagonist, who is crazy and all from the beginning. He was kinda like freedom fighter for the people of the country of Rain. And, for Konoha and everyone else, he was a hard-core terrorist, but a merciless and hyper-powerful terrorist that is.

I have this strange feeling that his jutsu will like...reverse time and bring everyone back. Then again, I'm a bit of a pessimist. That would probably one of the worst things Kishimoto could do.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
Maybe the whole thing was just one super big genjutsu LOL yeah right!

I don't know about you guys but I'm not ready to accept Pain as an ally to Naruto so, I can't see any reason for him to use his Jutsu and help Naruto now. It's damn too early, and if Pain's mind was changed just with that little chit-chat, I wonder how did he managed to become a leading sinister villian in all those years.
I hope he does this :
- " I believe in you Uzumaki Naruto... "
- *Bamn* & *smacks Naruto*
- "KUKUKUKUKUKUKUKU", yeah, Pain laughing, apparantly he doesn't have any sense of humour... >.> ........even as a child....

Well, first we was utterly defeated by Naruto in combat. And now, through Jiraiya's lessons and Naruto's outlook, while he does not find what he was doing priot to be "bad", he has decided to believe in Naruto and see if Naruto really can bring about peace. I don't think it necessarily means he's an ally, so much as he's gained a bit of hope.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."

i hope im wrong, maybe pein jutsu is to manipulate naruto just like the 6 peins... but i guess its impossible unless ofcourse naruto is a dead body... but thats the first thing came out of my mind when the last chapter ended peins using a jutsu...

Edit: RECENT CHAPTER
Damn... I want to strangleKishimoto. He ruined all the misery. Hope Tobi kick his assz. I think it was a bit over-stretched. Bringing back the dead...yeah right....still the whole village is in ruins...who's gonna pay for that, huh?
At least Kakashi is alive... I'm relieved that the story that I had heard before has not fallen apart...yet...>.>...

so naruto took out the leader of akatsuki now, wither Tobi, or Sasuke are going to fill in the shoes. i wonder who..

Yay Kakashi's back, but I already knew he'd come back in some way or another (Kishimoto had said something about developing his character more).
I'd love to see Naruto as a broadway musical, I think it has potential xD

Well actually, Tobi was like a leading antagonist from the beginning, but only working in the shadows. He was manipulating Pain for his own benefits. So, Tobi is still going to be the leader for now,... as far as we know...
As for Sasuke, he is preparing to head to Konoha right now. Don't know what he will do now...
Really! So, what's more is there to fill up his character now? Romance? Can't really see him being romantic in this series
... also, there's nothing more that he can teach to Naruto now, Naruto is way stronger than him
...perhaps a development of friendly reltionship with Gai then... They look perfect buddies as well as rival
, you know...
Broadway musical or not, it has potential for almost anything,...as long as there are plenty of fans of it ...and there are surely plenty of those in this world...

giant resurection justu... kinda dissapointed

Big disappointment at the Super-Revival-Pain-Killing-Jutsu. Damn it, Kishimoto... Well, nevertheless, Konoha itself is still rubble.
At any rate, Naruto really doesn't catch that much luck. The deal with Pain is finally over, and now Sasuke's making his way there.
But, we do know that Killerbee left a long time ago for Konoha, so they should have some forewarning.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."

Well, Jiraiya's still dead so there's some more misery for you to enjoy, for now. Asuma's dead, too, and there are some others... Plus, you've still got Sasuke, ole buddy, ole pal, as an enemy which is pretty tragic. People don't have to be dead for there to be tragedy. Besides, the only person majorly vital to the plot that was brought back was Kakashi, pretty much so... still a lot of really great characters are goners. So I still feel there is a fair bit of tragedy remaining, in spite of the most recent happy event.
I was a little disappointed with the revival jutsu but I'm happy Kakashi is back 'n all. I'm still anxious for the romantic developments left hanging, to continue. -_- I really wish Manga-ka would quit doing this. I mean, I enjoy a nice romantic chase and suspense and all but... I'm tired of having everything romantic being put on delay. Like "here's a little for... oh no no no! We gotta get back to the fighting, again, dear." TT_TT
Anxiously waiting for the next chapter.

Keep in mind that this(Hinata confessing to Naruto) is the first real romantic development in Naruto thus far (excluded Kurenai and Azuma having a kid, and Sakura's raging crush on Sasuke, one of which just happened out of nowhere and the other just kind of died off).
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."

I know. That's why I'm so frustrated. Most of the entire show has been random crushes and vague sexual tension both of which are addressed only very briefly or simply brushed over. So I was really excited when Hinata confessed. It was just "ugh! Finally!" And then he immediately veers away and I'm annoyed because I'm pretty sure Kishimoto's not going to bring it up again until he's sure that most of the audience has all but forgotten. -_-

But Naruto has never been, at any point, a romance series. It's not some shoujo series, or romance comedy. It's an action/adventure shounen series. The only "crushes" in the series are Hinata -> Naruto, Naruto -> Sakura, Sakura->Sasuke, two of which pretty much disappeared early on.
As for the "sexual tension"....lolwut?
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."

That doesn't mean it has to be completely devoid of romance. I'm not asking for bubbles, sparkles and flowers every chapter, I'm asking for a little resolution to the implied and/or potential romances, which hasn't happened very much at all. It's just as much a longing for completion as it is a longing for pure and simple romance.
Sexual tension is just another way of saying there are unresolved romantic situations and conflicts present. I'm not literally saying everyone's like "omg! We must make love" or that anyone has... just... fine I'll just say romantic tension. It's the same thing.

Man, I'd been thinking that Kakashi would be the Sixth Hokage for quite a long time now, so I wasn't too surprised when I heard the nomination, but Danzo actually got it? Sasuke is going to be pissed when he arrives, though I suppose it would make things simplier to get a hold of the man in the highest office in Konoha.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."

I agree. I believe the situation will be awful if Kakashi as the new Hokage against his ex-student Sasuke. I wonder what will Danzo do to hold off against Sasuke? I mean, he only has one arm and one eye. O.o
