Favorite Priest in Anime?

My personal favorite is Alexander Anderson off of Hellsing.

Probably Genjou Sanzo from Saiyuki. What buddhist priest do you know carries a gun, swears, drinks, and smokes XD? He's pretty awesome X3!

Wolfwood from Trigun.

The hands down best priest depicted in anime. He's conflicted and bold, he has a good-heart, but reality constantly lurks over him. He does not play a comic character unlike Abel Nightroad and Miroku. To me because of the depth of Wolfwood he surpasses even Alexander Andersong (who is largely left at face value and is never explored or developed) as a clear choice.

However, Wolfwood falls into the same pitfalls as other priests. Although he is well-represented and done surprisingly well he fairs different from other anime priests with his religion, morality and realistic take on life.

Wolfwood takes this spot easily for me.

I'll have to go with Father Alexander Anderson of Hellsing. No matter what you do to him, he'll keep coming right back unhurt. He's like a little roach that won't go away.

without a doubt the lovable chichiri from fushigi yuugi. He's a monk but same deal...Although i don't like the series much do to annoying characters like miaka, chichiri is still one of my top fav characters. theres a sad history behind his always smiling mask but because of that incident he's able to help when there's tension in the group ^-^

its a toss up between Sanzo and Abel Nightroad. Abel has that goofy -> homacidal trait that eveyone who watches anime can't help but love, and Sanzo has that 'I dont care if i'm an @$sHole' trait that eveyone who was ever a member of the human race can't help but love.
but since David Matranga played Sanzo i'll pick him, since he was higher than Troy baker on my list of Fav actors on another thread... Sorry Troy. i've know David longer.
