Are we living to die, or dying to live?
which is which?

Literally: Living to die
Philosophically: Dying to live
I wouldn't say that. I'd say neither. I'd say the answer's in the question. We're living to live. Dying is the end of life, but we're not living to reach that. We're living to be happy and experience life. Not to die. And dying is the end, so we're living to do everything but die.
All The Ways You Wish Could Be? That's me
We can only die if we live, but we can only live if we die... *thinks*
I suppose, it's like asking do we breathe when we sleep or do we sleep when we breathe (quote from Alice in Wonderland). They both seem to mean the same thing but actually have different meanings.
I'd say they are like looking at things in two different ways such as if a glass is half full or half empty. =_=;
Anyway, just refer to what Sagat said. It pretty much sums it up.
Where am I?
Was I hibernating?

Well in the end....
living to die
one day at a time
sounds like a relegious question. if there's life after death, arnt we dieing to live?
or are we just alive for the sake of dieing?
point of view type question. everyone's bound to have a different answer based on their belief.
So in that case...why are we all here? Wouldn't there be no point in living?

I don't know if this is related but I've had people smoke and when others say it damages their health they just say: "We're going to die anyway, right? So who cares."
There's a saying that if you leave a place, you have to make it better than it was when you first went there, the world will be a better place. If so, we live not only to die but to make a contribution to the world we live in n_n.

If you don't find your reason to live, it won't find you. If you have no reason to live, you may as well die anyhow as there would be no difference.
I don't mean to sound snobby but that thought is a little bit selfish. please I don't mean it personally, honest!! *innocent!!* If you can't find a reason to live, that doesn't mean that you have a reason to die, right? So let's all rejoice life !
As the Morgay say (um, refer to Grandia): "Honor all life."
Life is too precious to be wasted. And if you die, think of what your parents/family/friends would feel, hm?

i want to live and experiance everything i can. because, i might not know whats after death, but if there's a chance i wont be able to do the things i can do when i'm alive, i might aswell make the most of the time i got now.
Does it matter? Are we living to die, or dying to live?
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

Doesn't really matter to me. At this subject, I assume the role of fatalism. "In the long run, we're all dead anyway". I wish I knew who first said that...
I just plan to live a long life that amuses me. If I die, it won't really matter to me; after all, I'll be dead.

"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
My normal response/reaction when a person initially says, "I'm all worthless and I coudn't find a reson to live. I don't care if I die anytime or even now in this world", would be "what a pity! Are you living for nothing but wait for your death?!"
Dying is part of the natural order of things in life. It's a given. It would eventually come. So why even bother worrying about it as if it's your purpose. It's not even a way of living. I mean "Living just to die" when you will eventually die is the yearning of those who doesn't even want to live or value life a bit. With this perspective, one could just easily kill himself or anyone. And that's a sad life.
While "dying to live" in my book means ultimate desire to live.
There are many ways to explain the two lines further, which is either in literal or in a philisophical way of thinking, as Sagat hinted.
Are we all going to die? yes! unless...(supernatural/religious beliefs)
Are we all living to die? ??? ?? ??
Thanks for the cool set, Thornwillow.
Living in most ways sucks. The only good thing is knowing you are awake...or, are you awake?????? Matrix*cough*
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.
My silence could mean you are not worth the argument.
"For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach." ~J.R.R. Tolkien
The world we live in sucks. Thats why I like cartoons!
Not for those of us who have found a reason to live. If you think you don't have one, then you'd be dead. If you HONESTLY can't find a reason to live, you've fooled yourself into thinking you should die then you'd kill yourself. If you can't bring yourself to do it then you've found a reason to live. My reason to live is that I haven't fufilled my dream (which I'll never fufill, but I want to at least try) of becoming a famous guitar player for a band. This is my reason to live. Some people who don't have such a specific reason...their reason to live might be because they don't want to die. As long as you don't want to die, then you have a reason to live. If you don't, then you have a reason to die. So they die, it happens. If that were true we might as well all die right now.

Life sucks. I'm tired of this place../.
Well ... I'm an optimistist by nature, so I would have to say ... erm well ... o.o, are either of those optimistic statements?
Erm .. dying to live. Yeah. Er ... if you were ... eh, it's 3 in the morning, poor Thorny's head isn't working. ;_;

I agree. I mean, honestleigh. (it's from a play I was in...the line stuck) Some of us won't ever have kids the natural way. We may adopt. Even if we don't do THAT, we'll still be happy. So really we aren't "Living to reproduce" even though many people would agree that was true.
There are plenty of humans anyway...I'm sure that if you choose not to have any children, it's no skin off anybody's back.
~Thanks, Souhi! I heart it!~
