Making Animated Anime Avatars

Um how do you do it? Like say you wanted to capture a brief moment from an anime scene? Now what I've done in the past is pause it second by second and take dozens of screen captures and then re-animate the thing. But it never looks right-it's all shaky and stuff-plus it's a pain in the BUTT.

So I was wondering what programs others use...x_x Is there an easier way to do this?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Capturing: I use the ffdshow's grab function for that.
Making an animation: using ImageReady, importing all images as timeframes and whoila.

If you have ImageReady, you can open a video, and cut out a selected clip of it, and the program will automatically convert it into frames! I'll post a more detailed tutorial when I have more time later in the day unless someone else beats me.

I hope someone comes up with the tutorial soon. I'd love to learn to make them myself. And the only tutorials I've seen talk about other software. I have imageready, and I might as well learn to use it for something, right?
