I watched your shadow shave itself onto a marble floor
The rose that it was clutching fell and landed in my core
And I just stood there staring at it as it went for the door
With a ring of light around it, it was threatening to poor
Out itself upon me, standing there so numb
As I watched your shuddering shadow play across my eyes
And a bush was made of razor leaves and some baby’s dreams
And I watched the budding fruits float with dew too sweet to seem
And the light that glistened off of them was piercing like a scream
But I just in silence stood there and watched them through a screen
Of confusion of which to take and did not take a one
As I watched the berries fall to earth and there they rot and die
And there is a fork to choose and I am standing there
I have been for sometime now, I have not moved a hair
Still deliberating and weighing which one has the better air
And which to walk down which to see and if I even care
So standing there so silent with your shadow on my face
I will watch your shivering shade move on and past my mind
