Cutting yourself is not hobby. It's a freaken' life threatening disorder. If she were, say, shooting coke, would you tell her that if he doesn't like her shooting cocaine she should dump him for someone that will enable her addiction?

Granted, this post is likely a cry for attention and blatantly false, but the point is that it could be true, and you've told the addict that they are correct to persue their addiction, and they should resist anyone else’s attempts to sway them from it. Great going.

Although the two of us might get bad reps for this, I shall declare that I AGREE WITH YOU.

However, I raise my tolerance-limit to high when I come across people like this. It is not impossible to happen, what with outside influences (emo music, uncaring parents) coupled with lack of self-confidence.

My advice: You should stop cutting your wrists (and refrain from doing it again) because it is a selfish and stupid act. It's impossible for no one to love you, and that person who loves you will be hurt if you hurt yourself. About your boyfriend, though I am currently having bf-troubles of my own, past experience tells me that you should just be open to him. It's better that you tell him about what you did rather than have him find out on his own.

Let's not be so hard on her. She already said that she stopped weeks ago. Most people go through some period of depression and psychological/emotional issues, including myself. I never cut my wrists though, or tried to kill myself or anyone else. Look at me now, I'm a cookie-brained fox! XD

Ill admit you should stop cutting yourself, but i cant make you do that it is strictly up to you. Decide for yourself. As for your boyfriend there is no need in worrying tell him if he accepts you he will help you if he doesnt he wasnt worth it.

Disregarding what the others say, here is my opinion. You need to tell him, no matter how much you think he'll disapprove. His disapprovel may be one of the things that helps you the most. If it were me I would be upset, but I would do everything in my power to help you. If you tell him and he does breakup with you, keep in mind it's not entirely his fault. I would be thrown off to by the situation, but I would still stay with you because it's not my character to just leave those things, although I can't say the same thing about him. I just hope you realize that self mutilation and things of that nature affect more people than just yourself. What really matters in the end isn't the boyfriend, they'll come and go, it's your health. You need to make sure you're under control. You may have stopped for now, but these things have a tendency to come back, and that should be your main concern. I hope your situation improves, good luck.

However, I suggest that if you are cutting yourself, your biggest problem is not your situation with your boyfriend. Instead, you should be thinking about getting help with your disorder because being healthy and happy with yourself is more important.
