Cd player - mp3 player versus iPod - Preference?

Which do you prefer when it comes to portable music player? I for one choose mp3 player, they aren't as expensive as iPods and don't have the crappy sound quality that most cd players do. Anyways, which do you guys/girls prefer?

I'm old fashioned I guess. I loves mah CD's. And my CD's never get scratched. CD's only get scratched if you handle them like a retard, i.e. Not putting them back in their proper casing when you're done with them.

^I agree, but I like the convenience of not having to change cds. Carrying around a bunch of cds can be annoying.

I prefer CD play because I just love all my CD's and I never sctratch them so they stay nice and I find it easier because I'd probably lose a ipod or mp3 player because they're smaller and I lose small things lol

Ultimately I love the good old tape player, but for modern portable music players, its the MP3 player, you can get MP3's just as good as iPods for only a scratching of the price.

Id have to say my Ipod nano because it small and holds a lot of songs.

Yeah I have to say iPods own all other mp3 players.
It's also way more convenient having ALL your songs in the once place so you don't have to change CD's all the time.
So, iPod, definately.

mp3 players always strike me as weird because almost all of them have different ways of doing stuff (like going to the menu) while ipods no matter what size, color, etc. all have the same controls so its more convinient ^ ^

If you don't have a lot of music, a simple MP3 player for about $50 is pretty good. But once you start getting about a gig of music and iPod may be a good investment.

I listen to far too much music....Owning about 9k+ in mp3s and 500+ cds still being ripped so the ol iPod makes transporting all that music much easier

ipods scratch even easier than CDs, but i still like them. IMO theres better ones out there creative makes some good stuff

MP3 players are better than ipods because ipods break all the time. My mother's boss kept having to return hers and get a new one; she returned about 9 or so within a year.

I like cheap and I am cheap. Therefore, whatever's cheap and plays at least 100 of my favorite songs is superific. If it's also good quality then it's superduperific. Sadly, I don't follow fads (I know, what will the children say?) and I don't care for style, I have my own, and no, you can't have it...or even look at it...don't think about it either. iPods look nice, but its just an mp3 player with a popular brand name. That's all. Sure it has prevalence, but there's better out there, they just don't have fancy commercials, or magazine articles, or celebrity advocacy. :<

But the thing is awesome, I don't have to keep my butt parked at the computer to listen to my music (I lack a walkman as aswell) so I can just bop around my house and listen to music, as well as not have to keep a bulky laptop around my bed, paranoid of it falling off, when I can just listen to the ipod in my bed. It's awesome.

I know how you feel. I just got my iPod, and I was totally opposed to the idea. Soon though, I realized how awesome they really are o.o. Though, I still am keeping my MP3 player ^^!

That's the only way that anything gets broken, from being a retard. People that say they have an Ipod that has broken have probably dropped the thing so many times that you just have to say, "Duh, of course it's going to break from that."

I got an 30 gig Video Ipod for christmas, and I loved it. I really don't know much else about any other kind of Mp3 player, since I was perfectly happy with a CD player. As I always say, though, if you get something for free, never complain.

I prefere a MP3 player; they have pretty good quality and are more portable than CD players and could store a good amount of songs in them.

There are so many mp3 players that are WAY better than Ipods... sadly enough I don't have one of those. I have one of the old 4gb iPod nano... and frankly, I love it.
In my room i use cds. In the car I use cds, in the computer room I use the computer, and anywhere else, I use my ipod. XD

iPods are just mp3 playes that have a popular brand name (APPLE). So there's really no reason to try and seperate it by saying "iPods and mp3 players" when they are generally the same thing. :<

I prefer mp3 players since they're just oh-so more convenient than CD players. Rather than carrying around a huge drive motor and 100 discs, I can just put it all in one place and then some. Really, if you store your CDs on your computer's hard drive after you buy them (or even older CDs) then you won't have to worry about the consequences of scratching them; or you could get a CD cleaner, which basically reshapes the surface of your CD erasing existing scratches without damaging the data.

There's also taking better care of them, but that's such an outdated method.
