Hmm..IS there a god?
What do you think? recently my friends and I started to talk about religion..and God..and IF there is a God..or ..blah if there is not..how many? What kind? It's a touchy subject. But I want to hear from some of you people. Remember to keep your thoughts CLEAN and try not to bring others down. Be nice Ladies and Gents..

There is no 'universal' answer. Some people believe in a god, some people don't, so for those people, there both is and isn't.

For myself, I'm personally indecided on my belief in god. There is plenty of proof that he does exist, especially the fact that there is proof that there was a jesus. I'm just not totally convinced..yet.

Every time I see you post in these sorts of threads you always add that damned line in, as if it's going to protect you or something. We know people are entitled to opinions even if they are downright stupid, so stop using that as a crutch already.
And make sure we believe in the "right" thing? Who is to say what is right exactly?

I think everyone absolutely everywhere at one point and time questions their religion. Personally I dont belive in anything, but that does not mean I dont not respect the thought and feelings of others. But my personal belief in religion is simply this; People for some reason require an explanation. Scince history has been recorded there have always been religions that come and go. Take the Greek Gods for example. The Greeks firmly belived in their gods and worshiped and carried on about their days for hundreds of years. We now in the present have dismissed the Greek Gods as mere myths. Who is to say that Christianity, or even Judism, or even the Muslim faith cannot just be discarded as sheer myth. For centuries people have needed an explanation for the unexplainable. That is why religion was created. The traditions Live on, and will live on as long as there is at least one firm, true beliver. I say, belive in what you will, but wars, conflicts or anything of that nature should not be wrought over a certain persons, or groups, beliefs.

You have to belive in him its in the bible you cant see him why. he has died once for our sins when he come back he will be a spirt god is real he can hear us but you have to wait for his answer it may take four years or one day you have to wait your turn.You know when your about to do something wrong and something tells you not to do it that might be an answer from god or an angel god is real and he loves you. I think about the same thing. its like when we need him and we call his name and its like he cant help us but that is for a reason sometimes he will sometimes he will not our life is a test over our soul between heaven and hell if you can pass this hard a## life you will eternal life in heaven.

Just cause something is in the bible, doesn't mean that it's law. The bible has had slight alterations with all of its many translations. There is not guarentee that anything said in it is true. There might be another explanation for your problem with talking to god. Have you ever thought, just in the back of your head, that he just...

I'm not saying this as if god isn't real, because I for one am not sure. There is no one that can say whether god is real or not, for they would be lying. They have their own reasons for believing in god, and you can't really know yourself unless you find it on your own time.

Do I believe in a divine force and universal intelligence? Yes. Do I believe in a big voice in the sky who likes to toy with us and act as a sorta daddy figure and spank, drown and/or burn us, when we don't do what he wants? No. Even if something like that did exist I don't think we'd get along very well.

Well, Lumi, I happen to believe there is a God. Sometimes when I think that all is lost or if I'm feeling really down, I pray. For me, He is there to listen to what I have to say. When there is a hope or just even if its just a little dream or deep down desire, I ask Him in prayer.

Well if you mean some kind of divine force that created everything? Maybe. If you think about it. It's a known fact that for something to happen, there had to be a cause before that event. Time and our dimensions were created when the universe was created and the cause was maybe "God". But, since time hadnt existed yet, before the universe was created, that thing before doesn't have to follow those same rules and therefore it had no cause. Kinda sounds like God to me I guess.

You can't prove there isn't a god, since it isn't a falsifiable, measurable concept. But the only proof you can currently point to as existence of a god would be things like subjective evidence such as peoples' personal experiences with religion, which isn't something you can prove either. Or anything that cannot be fully explained with current scientific knowledge, another flawed argument since the majority of things once attributed to a god have been found to have another, measurable explanation and humans have by no means reached the peak of their scientific knowledge. Or supposed signs of divine intervention- "Wasn't it a miracle that a heart surgeon just happened to parachute out of his plane as it broke down, landing right on our boat isolated in the middle of the ocean with a broken radio, just as our daughter was having a heart attack!". Many of these are very statistically possible when compared to the number of times a coincidence didn't happen.
It does seem interesting that almost every culture in the world (perhaps every, I don't know) has some form of religion, but whether that's because there's some sort of divine intelligence that every religion interprets a different way to make into their own god, or because people just have questions that they need to invent an answer for.. that's impossible to answer.
I've noticed that in the beginning of cultures, they make religions with many many gods, all for something that they don't know how to explain any other way. Then, it seems, that as cultures begin to make more and more scientific achievements, those gods are thrown away because the things those gods represented could be comepletely explained now. So now there are many religions with just one god, and that god is the god of creation, which is something noone can completely understand yet.
