I listen to J-pop/J-rock often and I enjoy it. AKFG, UVERworld, Gackt, Hikki, Ayu and Orange Range are my favorites. But I normally like any of jap songs, mostly from my favorite anime shows. ^^
Thanks for the cool set, Thornwillow.
I like some J-rock and J-pop. Some people just like it for the reason that it's J-rock or J-pop, but there are J-rock/J-pop songs I like, and there are the songs I dislike. Most of my favourite Japanese music comes from openings/endings to the anime shows I like. I also like some metal. My current favourite anime openings/endings are
Snorkel - Namikaze Satellite
Chobits - Let me be with you
Porno Graffitti - Melissa
Yellow Generation - Tobira no Mukou he
Sambomaster - Seishun Kyousoukyoku
Sorcerer Stabber Orphen - Ai Just on my Love
Blessed is he who expects nothing for he shall never be disappointed.
So far I love every Japanese song I've heard.
The openings from Chobits, Fruits Basket, Inuyasha (endings), Naruto (not the first opening though X-x) ect the anime's go on forever...
Oh and btw the opening have song which ARE crossovers to music which is what I am talking about for the "smarter people in here "

- J-Rock
- J-Pop

Wow... Orange Range! I love them! Japanese music is one of my favorite arts. I love how the ending theme songs to an anime show are J-pop/J-rock etc. Everyone of my most loved anime, I can likely sing along with the singer. Know more then over 30 songs in Japanese and I don't speak it.Originally Posted by Uno_Caste

That being said I do have at least a couple bands I like, that deliver something besides a different language to the musical table. These bands are:
Typhoon 24
Tropical Gorrila
Up Hold
Goofy's Holiday
Beat Crusaders
Husking Bee
Those bands are acceptable. And for those of you who know GOOD anime you'd know that all of those are bands off of the soundtrack to Harold Sakuishi Manga BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.
other notable bands:
Orange Range
Sambomaster
All The Ways You Wish Could Be? That's me
"Jpop/Rock = Really really dumb"? So because we happen to have been raised into an English speaking society, we shouldn't listen to music from other countries? If you have two songs which are exactly the same, one with English lyrics, one with Japanese and someone chooses the Japanese one just because it's J-pop/J-rock, then that's just stupid. But if someone likes the song for the song, not for the language spoken in it, then what's wrong with that? I'd say the English pop/rock sounds very different than the Japanese pop/rock, and I'm not talking about the language.

You make it sound like speaking english is less cool than Japanese and that being born in an english-speaking country is a mistake or misfortune.Originally Posted by Danno

Oh well.

Get your ears checked and stop being an annoying Japanophile. But if someone likes the song for the song, not for the language spoken in it, then what's wrong with that? I'd say the English pop/rock sounds very different than the Japanese pop/rock, and I'm not talking about the language.

"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
Argh, I forgot about High and Mighty Color and Toshiro Masuda.
Xero reminded me about Color. Ichirin No Hana has a great sound to it (3rd bleach ending) and so do their other songs. They have a great, unique sound. And Toshiro Masuda is the mastermind behind most of the Naruto soundtrack, which rocks hard.
All The Ways You Wish Could Be? That's me
I don't really like artists, but I like a few songs. Like this rolly person, did some song for this musical... I don't know what it was called, something hospital. It's an amazing sound track.
Oh..I forgot TM Revolution.
High and Mighty Color's is okay too and I like their song "Pride", theme song from GSD before Ichirin no Hana. Well, if a like one I make sure that I look for it's english translation. Just liking the song regardless of the language without even knowing what it means/expresses is what I call dumb.
Thanks for the cool set, Thornwillow.
I 've been listening to Korean and Japanese songs since I was 10. I like any japanese and Korean songs if they are nice Songs from Ayumi Hamasaki, Koda Kumi, Beat Crsuders, Utada Hikaru, UVERworld and many more (I kinda forgot)
I fear...muffins.....instead I could use a cookie <Hurray> COOKIES!^^
I love J-pop and J-rock. I really like the more upbeat songs. Two of my favourite j-pop groups are Morning Musume and Perfume. To some people, those two groups can get really annoying, but I enjoy them. They make me happy ^.^
