Im hoping misc. is the right place for this.
Previews for Clerks 2 made me feel nostalgic, so much so that I dug out Clerks from my basement...only to find that the casette was broken and couldn't be used. So, I downloaded it. I long since forgotten how funny the movie was since it was years and years since me and my neighbor watched that R rated movie and thought we were badass. For those of you who have NO idea what Im talking about...
Clerks is a movie written by Kevin smith, who most of you may know as Silent Bob. The movie is about two Clerks who sit around all day and do almost nothing. There is Randal (played by Jeff Anderson) who runs the video store. He is a cynic who has a love for pornography and belittling the customers. Dante (played By Brian O'Halloran*sp?*) runs the "Quick Stop" a convienince store much like a 711. He is a callow, fickle man who doesn't know what he wants. He believes the world is against him and blames other's for his shortcomings. Nevertheless, he is a likable character.
The movie comes off as pretty stupid, however there are some deeper, more intelligent aspects to this movie. I highly recommend. (Note that it's rated R, and for good reason. Cursing (a whole lot), Lewd Sexual Remarks, drug use, etc...)
Clerks also was aired (for two episodes) as an animated series. The voice talents of the original actors were used for the cartoon personifications of themselves. The people at ABC thought the show was too racey for their network, so they took it off the air after only 2 episodes. There were, however, 6 in all. You can find them on DVD if you look reeeeeeeaaaaaaallllllyyyy hard.
I am also greatly looking forward to Clerks 2. How will it compare to the original? Will it still be funny? Only time will tell. Also, Clerks 2 is in Color, which some fans disapproved of since the original was black and white due to low budget. I find that rather stupid. Production aspects such as color play little to no role in the actual film >=(
stoopid fanboys.
ANYWHO, share your thoughts on the original, the series (if you saw it), and thoughts on the upcoming clerks two.
Snoogins.
